Hey Finn! Make keeping the kitchen area super clean and sanitary a PRIORITY because with those open doors, the first time an uninvited guest (think mice!) moves in because of the smells, you'll wish you had kept things clean!! I have seen vanlifers in total misery when mice get into their van and it's really, really hard to get them out in a humane way. Keep things clean and free of food crumbs! You'll be glad you did!

Funny I had a westfalia van, white camper van. A ‘73 and took it surfing and all around. Then lived in one in Florida in the keys. While diving, sailing, exploring Caribbean islands. And now I have an Excursion. I wish we had YT when I was young. The stories to tell. You get to do that. What a blessing! Safe travels Finn.

I grew up on the water on Cape Cod and now I pretty much live in desert CA. Finn, you must still hear the ocean and boat sounds when you close your eyes at night! I Love CA but miss the feel of the ocean and sound of the seagulls

Had a 77 bread loaf, 81 (air cooled - Westfalia) and a 90 Vanagon Carat weekender version. Saw all of the continental US, Canada and bits of Mexico. I loved the space in between the front seats (pass-through) and loved the pop-up roof tent. It was an easy layout for me. Glad you have the Subie engine, much more reliable than the pancake VW. I wish you all the best! AND GO TO BANFF !!! 😊 It’s majestic !!

Don't stress out Finn. This will happen in many states. You're just learning. Do a couple minutes of internet homework before stopping for the night. Glacier National Park does have designated campsites. Go exploring all day and then just head into a good safe campsite to go to sleep. Problem solved.

I lived in my 94 dodge B350 high top for 2 yrs and loved it. the best subscription I purchased in those 2 years was to Campendium lots of good info on where to camp with reviews of the campsites. and I have to say I never once got the (dreaded knock) from cops or rangers. Just got back from North Carolina, and suggest that the area around Franklin is a place you need to go. Just a beautiful area of our country with amazing views.
