Thank you for these videos! I'm 20 years old and have been toggling back and forth about what I want to do. I thought about psychology, ecology, real estate and a bunch of other things but I could really see myself doing massage therapy at least for a little while. I'm very introverted and don't like being watched by managers or co-workers. I am not very team oriented but I still want the comfort and safety of being a part of a team. I'm hoping this is something I could actually enjoy doing while making a livable wage! How long was your massage therapy program? I've seen some from 8-10 months

Hi Stephanie! Wow! Such an important time in your life. I would recommend shadowing a few massage classes (if the school allows) so you can see what it’s really like learning about massage therapy! I took a couple classes and knew right away this was something I wanted to pursue. My program was supposed to be 11 months but turned into 2 years bc it was in the middle of Covid

This is a really great video, you were super honest and your points were easily communicated. You are an amazing therapist, I wish I could hire you. Cheers to a prosperous new year 🥳🥳🥳

Thank you for these videos, it’s so true going towards the massage therapy path is because it’s in you, it’s like a light that you want to share, it’s not for everyone and I was feeling discouraged because the massage therapy school I went to was nothing like I expected. Everyone was very money hungry only and showed nothing but negativity and drama. Energy vampires, I would leave school completely drained and I completed 450 hours and dropped out because I couldn’t take it anymore. I only have three weeks of hours left since this program is 640 hrs and I was doubting going back to finish but I really want to go back because this is my calling and the enemy came for me but this Industry is not like the school I went to.

I’m sorry you had that experience! But I can tell you that actually working as a massage therapist is so different in a good way!! At least for me, I’ve had so much positive experiences with my job and people in this field. I hope you can experience this too! Super rewarding!

@@JackieEm I am a housewife with a 4 years old boy and a 4 months old girl. Never be a massage therapist before. I want to be a professional message therapist. But English is not my first language, I am little nervous to work with people. It took me a while to decide to go massage therapist school next year. Your information helped me a lot, thanks for your sharing!

Also did your program or your license cover all types of massages? If you wanted to specialize in specific type of massage would you have to go back to school or is it more experience based?
@JackieEm2 жыл бұрын
You learn all types of massages in school but it mostly focuses on Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, prenatal massage …I learned hot stone massage ar work. You actually learn a lot of new massages when you start working. If you want to learn more in depth about more niche massages, you don’t have to go to school. But there’s something called continue education where you learn a specific technique over the course of a couple days

Thanks for all the info! I can relate to what you said about massaging family members lol I want to pursue this career. Do you think I can get money from this? How much do you think I’ll make in my first job a month ?
@JackieEm2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jaz! Happy this video helped! Yes, the good thing about this job is you can make as little or as much as you’d like. If you work at a spa, it depends how much you can make. But if you choose a high end spa, you should be paid a good amount. (Depending where you live). I live in California which is a pretty expensive state and I am able to live comfortably. My private clients are also added in my monthly income

I am really considering being an RMT, I am very interested in it and think I would be great! only thing is I REALLY struggled with school in the past and have my doubts that I will be able to handle the course load. Any tips? Do you think it would be worth it for someone like me who struggled in the past? I don't want to feel hopeless.
