Was the transmission fluid ever replaced prior to the valve body issue? I would not follow the recommended schedule because those are for optimal conditions when in reality most people are in the severe duty driving conditions which means shorter intervals for service. Make sure to take care of your transfer case and rear diff before its to late.

It's super important to note the engine/transmission setup you experienced this with, because the Hybrid Maverick and Non-Hybrid Maverick have very different setups. The Hybrid Maverick essentially has a single-speed electric motor that serves as it's transmission, moving the car forwards and backwards, while the non-hybrid has a traditional 8-speed automatic transmission. I imagine that the Hybrid setup would have significantly less issue since it's an electric motor.

@@STho205 It's assembled in Mexico but the electric motor in the eCVT is manufactured in-house at the Van Dyke Electric Powertrain center in Michigan. The electric motor is significantly less complicated than your typical automatic transmission, which is why I say it's a safe bet to assume it will outlast the traditional transmission they put in the non-hybrid versions. Sure - the Hybrid Maverick has a battery attached to all that, but it's very small - 1.1kWh pack. It would cost less than a transmission to replace. For comparison, the battery pack is a fully electric base-model tesla is a 58kWh pack.

I get a kick out of the idiots in the comments who're blaming the Maverick for the problems instead of the lack of maintenance. 90k+ in such a short period of time is most definitely severe usage and in the Ford owner's manual it calls for fluid changes at 30k in those conditions. I really don't want to crap on the creator since he is one of the better Maverick channels on this site but come on use some common sense. And as far as Ford saying to change the fluid at 150k with normal use that's bs as well. Go to www.youtube.com/@FordTechMakuloco or www.youtube.com/@FordBossMe channels to see what they think of Ford's service intervals.
@eray9934

Just driving 90k miles in a short period of time wouldn’t make it “severe” usage if he’s still driving it normally. I’m sure the vast majority of those are highway miles, which is easy on a vehicle. What would probably constitute severe usage on a transmission is towing, off roading, fast acceleration… I haven’t watched the channel enough to know how exactly he’s using it, but his driving isn’t too aggressive.

Good afternoon. I know it's alot but I go to the dealer every quarter for oil change. It may seem like a lot but I rather spent about $250/300 for the year than to fix the engine. Same with the Trans and etc. We know that car will eventually give up. But I think if you are on point with the maintenance it should last well over 10+ years.

29:13 After seeing all those faults when you got to this point makes me think the dealership should check the ground connections to the engine and transmission. Bad ground connections can cause a lot of problems in modern vehicles where most everything is done with electric like the power steering. Do you frequently drive without the under engine bay aero plates (not really skid plates)? Maybe excessive moisture is affecting a few of the ground connections

I’ve been seeing lots of videos about the Ford Maverick having major transmission and some engine issues even with very low miles. Most haven’t been abused or driven across the country like this one, both regular and hybrid engines have been prone to similar issues. They’re all literally brand new so still under manufacturer warranty but I’d hate to see them in 6 yrs with their 2nd or 3rd owners and out of warranty. Rolling piles of junk will probably be worth about $7k even with very low miles because nobody will be wanting to touch them. Lol

@@RogerBiddle-p5m ok, and then it gets taken care of right away. Where as ford will have you waiting 2 weeks up to two months just to look at the problem. Not even fix it, which is insane since its supposed to be an american car with the perks of getting parts quickly being in the usa. Every car thats mass produced will have a good deal of lemons, especially modern vehicles where almost all the components rely on electronics. What matters is how the company goes about solving the issues that happen. My dearler told me they would take it in the day of if anything should happen. Where as every ford service garage near me told me it would be 2 weeks to a month. The good thing is ford will put you in a car while your curent vehicle is getting fixed but that still sucks. Also, while you've seen plenty of civics die before leaving the lot. The ones that don't die will go hundreds of thousands of miles before anything major goes on them, excluding electronics because no matter what make you get thats always a potential problem now a days. Also Ive been in the bronco sport owners group on fb as well as the ridgeline owners group and I see a lot less issues being talked about on ridgelines than I did on the bronco sport owners group. Both groups have like 10 to 15k members on it. A lot of bronco sports which have the same transmission as the maverick suffer from transmission failure. Where as the ridgelines ive only seen 1 or 2 posts about electronics bugging out within the first few weeks of ownership showing that its likely a defect that can be resolved under warrentee. Lastly honda has a life time powertrain warrenty. Ford pretty much tells you you're screwed after 60,000 miles, unless you pay a ton more money for extended warrenty.

Pretty disappointed it’s having these issues already. I have one in order but this might convince me to get something else.

@matthewgaines10 90,000 miles on a new car is nothing. I would be upset if I had transmission issues with double that.

I hope the dealer isn't screwing you over 4 weeks later... Give us an update video if you can. I personally would be SO mad. The fixed it around ~80K, so SINCE they didn't fix it right and it died ~10k miles later and that includes uses fresh fliud during their service job... You better contact FORD corporate in Detroit.

I have a 2016 F165. The mpg computer is not always right. When I fill up. I reset my trip counter. I drive how ever many miles and then I fill up again. I divide the miles by the gallons it take to fill the tank. If I drive 65 mph, I get about 26 mpg. If I drive 80 mph. I get about 20 mpg.

I feel sad that you're such a nice person and have had so much trouble with your Maverick. Thank you for your video because now I know I won't buy a Ford. I have a 2015 Toyota Camry that has 40000 miles on it right now. I bought it with 35,000 miles on it and it was due for brakes and rotors. I'm hoping for the best with this car but I would love a truck that looks like the Maverick.

I've driven 3 different Ford trucks with different companies I've worked for. All the way from a 2001 Ford Ranger to a 2018 F-150. All 3 had transmission problems. In fact, the 2 newer ones both had the transmission completely fail under 50k miles. These little mavericks seem like cool trucks, but I'll never be able to buy a Ford after the experience I've had.

These are neat looking compact trucks, but this is one reason why i don't buy the newest version of a new model year vehicle. There's always issues it seems like that a manufacturer doesn't catch during their trials and testing and then it feels like the consumer becomes the guinea pig for their engineers and such for finding the issues. I know the truck isn't that old, but the mileage is high for the age, and I'm hoping that this doesn't effect more drivers in the next few years that start to get into that 80k-100k mileage range and they start to see similar issues. I guess the good thing will be though, you're finding it now and this might prompt the engineers at Ford to get some more understanding to make improvements on new production vehicles and new fixes for future trucks already on the road.

This isn't a Ford issue. He didn't read the manual and see that he should have changed the trans fluid at 30k miles under severe duty. He more than doubled that. Not the trucks fault at all.

Great vid. You should get a bed cover on the back. Keeps stuff from getting blown out on the highway. Or maybe even a camper shell and you can sleep in the bed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you follow the maintenance recommendations from ford and change the fluid at 30k under extreme duty then it'll be perfectly fine. I like this guy but he didn't change his fluid till after 80k and he is definitely a severe duty case.

I think I'm going to cancel my 2024 maverick order. I'm going to try to get a 2023 Tacoma while it still has the V6 and the access cab with usable doors, the 2024 has none of these features. I don't want to have issues with the turbos down the road.

If you plan on keeping this after a new transmission. Or even if you decide on another car. Bro… you need to do a transmission service around 40-60K especially if you plan on driving 80k+ in a little over a year lol

I would change the fluid and filter at the 20k mileage and keep it up... I Look at the fluid and if it is not the nice red color and smells, out it goes, regardless of mileage...
