Mega for the win!!! I love mine, could upgrade to a Giga 297 frame but I think unless I lived near a chair lift or big uplift park I don’t need to. The mega is an absolute beast of a bike as is, especially with a 170mm front on 38s with potential to go 180mm.

Interesting to hear you say the Giga was hard work on flatter stuff compared to the Mega. Pedaling and shuttling with the Giga at home on east coast flat jank and it felt too much like a race bike. Was only fun when you push it fast. Now on an over shocked Patrol and it feels more like the freeride bike I wanted. Nukeproof messed up by making the Giga an enduro race bike instead of a freeride bike (despite the linkage being the same as the dissent). Interesting how many EWS riders are still on Megas. Cheers!

Nice bike! Love my 290, it's definitely a better choice for long long days out I think, and it certainly doesn't appear to affect your cornering ability!

Did you change the Rockshox Zebs travel to 170mm to match up with the Megas setup coming from the Giga? Needing to upgrade mine from 170 to 180 as I’ve just bought a Giga if your old air spring is available?
@innesgrahambike2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t change the travel. I think I will when my race bike arrives. These parts are from my Giga and will be going back on that bike eventually

@innesgrahambike2 жыл бұрын
It’s tough. I think the bike you’re on won’t be too big for you by any means. I am way too big for my bike if you go off their size chart. Try changing your bar height a little. Cornering comes from even weight distribution and confidence in your front end grip. Bigger bikes are sometimes harder to balance your weight evenly.

ive had both bikes and am on the giga now . mega definitely carries speed better on flatter terrain and imo is more manoeuvreable . giga needs gradient and rough terrain to be useful i feel . its much closer to a dh bike

Nice one! On the Works Components reach adjust headsset, are you using external cups instead of the zero stack cups to get the extra 5mm of reach?

Correct. So it’s 5mm longer, raised the bar about 16mm and slackened the head angle ever so slightly.

yo, I'm pretty tall with long arms and legs. I don't know chest size but I'm 182cm tall. I ordered a M. Rapha kit is amazing and would highly recommend. no affiliation personally but they're a sick brand and their warranty scheme is super worthwhile.

@@innesgrahambike thanks man - your the same height as me and look a similar slim build so ill get a medium, small likely be a bit too tight with layers underneath and would proabably be a little short at the back too - looks ace though rapha stuff is ace but this will be the first MTB stuff ive bought

720mm bars at 182cm?? Interesting mate! Is that for the tight twisty EWS courses or do you just like that? Cheers.
@innesgrahambike2 жыл бұрын
A narrower bar will allow you more range of motion. And more range of motion should give you more control technically. Within reason…. I’ve thought about going narrower than that to be honest. A narrow bar is definitely an advantage in the tweed valley
