Sneakers that need replacing because the tread is gone, to keep your body healthy for the rest of your life, are definitely a need. (I’ve heard too many people mention permanent damage to joints from worn down runners.) To be extra fashion-unmotivated, buy the same model so it’s a pure replacement. But regardless it’s a practical need. I usually launder the old pair and donate it - an expensive used sneaker can still be good for walking for someone.

sneakers are a terrible purchase, both for the planet and for your health. you can buy better shoes that are reparable. edit: also, some of the worst worker's rights abuses happen at shoe manufacturers

@grreeeeee
@grreeeeee 19 күн бұрын
@@currentusername3533 it just depends on what you want to focus on. for sustainability purposes, leather shoes/boots with good year welt soles so they can be repaired easily. for health purposes, barefoot shoes are gaining more and more popularity and therefore attention from the scientific community. there are positive steps (heh) being taken there. the other advantage of barefoot shoes is that they are often made by sustainable companies. they don't last as long as good year welted leather shoes, but they are often made sustainably. lots of runners are switching to barefoot shoes too.

I love the low buy and minimalism trends. However I have found that I like storing my older clothing away and I have the space for them so it works for me. The thing I have found is that so many things come back into fashion and become on trend so my older favorites are well used again! So if you have quality pieces please ladies carefully consider saving them for a few years down the road. Once you haven’t seen them for a while they feel new and it’s exciting to wear them again. Just wanted to put that out there.

i so relate to your rule philosophy! i’ve always been big into mindful spending, but i can’t imagine fully cutting out fun life things like getting food or coffee out. like i want to save money but not at the expense of the things that bring me joy. 😋

Running shoes are a need because it's about keeping you healthy and avoiding injury during an activity that is important to your fitness. However you can say you are only allowed to own 1 pair of runners at a time

I am *attempting* a low but this year as well, not going well so far🙈 but im trying to give myself some grace because im trying to change some pretty ingrained behavior. Like you said “rewire the brain”. But I also loved what you said about fashion/clothes and all that goes into it is how some of express creativity, just a good point to think about. Good luck hopefully we can make it through this year buying very little!

i'm so inspired by these low buy videos! i'm doing my own spin on it: i'm allowed to buy only 5 pieces of clothing in TOTAL, so i'm not allowed to buy more than that secondhand or new. I'm doing this because i have been feeling like i don't get enough wear out of my wardrobe, which is all beautiful vintage pieces that i have selected, it's really my dream closet! Additionally i'm not really buying anything (but socks and lingerie) new, so the 5 new pieces limit would not be a challenge for me. I also started to feel like i'm not appreciating my clothes enough and that i'm always thrifting new pieces and not wearing what i have. So far so good but i have bought 3 pieces already, so only 2 to go!🥶🥶 it is definitely a challenge but i'm so excited to see how this goes!! Good luck to you!

Last year, once I settled in as a post-partum mama (child turned 2), I did a major edit of my wardrobe… carefully thought out and high quality locally-made pieces. This year, I’ve added a couple things … but I really do intend to do much the same in terms of “low buy”. It’s a beautiful feeling

Perfect timing for me for this content! As to the running shoes, if you are feeling on the fence for whatever reason, you could take a small portion of the cost and charge it to your $100 per month. It doesn't have to be all or nothing in terms of all coming out of the hundred or none. Thanks for the video, great inspiration.

I totally agree, I am trying to avoid looking at content creators who are buying a lot of stuff, and have enourmous wardrobe, with every thing you can imagine. It really makes me upset, and wanting to buy more stuff, and definitely kills creativity. I love to follow people like you, who are creating new outfits from already owned stuff, it is very inspiring and so much better for my mind

For me, my ‘no buy, year will be me not buying any new clothing. I have enough. I will replace undergarments if needed. 😊I also plan to use the time I would normally use to shop for clothes shopping for refashioning what I have. I also have a lot of fabric so I’m challenging myself to sew anything that I think I need or want, eg special occasion wear like a new dress to wear to a wedding. Plus if you are a runner, it’s very important to have proper footwear.

Near the end of the video where you talk about being a content creator-I actually laughed bc we don’t live w you or really know what you have or don’t have! The concern about always having something new is needless, honestly. It’s true that a lot of YT people are all about the hauls-look what I just got!-but sometimes I watch those and think, yep you are going to regret that (not you, though 😂).

Please do A LOT of research prior to going on Accutane. I was on it a number of years ago and had many serious, longterm complications. And I still get acne sometimes though less. Good luck!!

Just be yourself! What is yours is yours. At 46 years old I can give you some advice, you just do you and don't care about other people think of you. People always have what to say it's not connected to you they just criticize some part of themselves that they can't stand...Subscribed

Accutane change my life, gave me clear skin after struggling with intense inflammed painful acne BUT know that the pills come with terrible side effects that I still deal with 20 years later. Like chronic dry eyes/ lips. Not just a little bit. My lips crack and bleed often. Also, it can cause insulin resistance which made me diabetic. The pharmaceutical company is now being sued for that in Europe. I would try a topical retinol first. Have your hormones checked. High cortisol/insulin/testosterone can all cause acne but can be addressed

Wow I knew the risks of getting extremely dry skin was high, but wasn’t aware of the insulin resistance! Definitely going to research more on that since my younger brother went through accutane as a teen, so now I know to advice him to bring up insulin resistance to his doctor. I hope ur doing well❤️

A lot of my tops and some pants and jackets are thrifted. But I have to seriously love the item and know it works in my closet as I’ve made the mistake of buying the odd item that was not that versatile just because it was inexpensive and used. So that made me regret the purchase.

I buy zero brand new clothing items. I only buy thrift (apart from undies). This would absolutely have to apply to thrift for me. But I do a similar thing. If I don't absolutely love it, I don't buy it. It really helps to set a budget. It's a lot harder to buy something knowing you're taking away from your budget for potential future items, even if you never spend that budget. You roll your budget over?? Wow! I'd have a $500 thrift budget... I would buy your shoes second-hand. Then it count against your rule of 5, and you can get really decent running shoes second hand.

Running shoes need to be replaced after a certain amount of miles or you're going to hurt yourself. People fall into the trap of thinking they need the most expensive shoe with the best technology, but I've trained for marathons cycling through $90 shoes that held up for 500 miles, not a pair of super puff air spring whatever Nikes for $270 - that the marathon shoe.

Regarding the insecurity of content you brought up towards the end, I’d just like to say that I found you *because* of this video. I do not follow influencers who constantly showcase new stuff because it just encourages me to buy stuff which I don’t want to do. Also it makes me furious that people can have such little consideration for the environment. So maybe this type of content could make you lose hyper-consumerist viewers but it will open you up to a whole new world of sustainable and/or budget conscious viewers.

Doing a no buy this year … I find weird bouts of anxiety much like dieting. Yknow go to the gym once, eat a salad once & think phew I’m all done but no weight is lost. I’m not buying but I can’t save yet either because I’m paying down debt (which isn’t poof gone yet either) 🤑 Then the anxiety of looking ahead to I still have the whole year ahead of me I can’t buy anything!?! 🎢 good news is the relief that comes from NOT buying & a lil bit of pride resisting temptation 🖤
