My 2024 goals 1 . Save my $1000 emergency fund (i have saved $600, so shy of $400 ). 2. Travel locally and internationally (traveling back to my home country, which is Zambia, for a holiday in the winter in June) 3- Pay off debt -$860 (owe my mom) 4- Save - $500 for my sinking fund That's it for the year, i don't want to overwhelm myself with goals that I'll fail to achieve and get disappointed. So whenever i achieve 1 of these 4 main goals, then I'll add 1 more goal to the list.

Travel is one of my favorites!! We budget $11k per year, plus take loads of advantages of points (airfare, hotels are the main ones we love to use). In 2024, we are heading to Europe, specifically Norway and a couple other countries we haven’t finalized. A couple trips to MN (we live in AZ), Cali trip and probably a Vegas or Florida trip! I tend to go to 5-9 places a year!

Other goals we have: Emergency fund: $30k (think we just need a little over $4k to get there) Save $8k in car fund (would like a new car maybe in 2026 or 2027 so want to have that fully saved) Save/cash flow: $18k for house renovation projections $3k for self care stuff (massages, IVs, etc) Increase 401k by 2% (currently at 15% and 9% plus company match) And finally overall have a bit more disposable income and remain debt free!

My only goal for 2024 is a low buy year. I want my annual spend between 25k and 30k. A good chunk of that is property tax, home insurance, health insurance deductible, and bills. So being really intentional with what i choose to buy and being frugal. When i run the numbers on absolute needs plus a buffer for maintenance for the house and car, it's enough to still have a bit of fun. Very little wants allocated in my 2024 budget and honestly i think it'll be good. I really want to work through items i already own. I really also want to challenge myself because lifestyle creep just started happening and i need to nip that asap. 😅

I want to do all the things! 😅 I’m planning to max out my 403b (also a first for me). I still need to max out my Roth IRA for 2023, then will tackle 2024. Those are my main ones. In the meantime I do have debt I’m trying to pay off, an emergency fund I want to double, and an overseas trip (2025) to save for.

I checked my 401k contribution and I don’t know why, but I have it at 13% 😮 I think my company matches 6%. It’s been like this for 6 years with my recent company.
@tenshinowingusu
@tenshinowingusu Жыл бұрын
A lot of 401k programs have this option that every year they can auto increase your contribution for you. When you're young, you don't have as much disposable income, so you contribute less to build savings, but the hope is as you get older, you contribute more, and at a certain point, ideally, even if you're contributing a large %, you just hit the max sooner, so you get bigger paychecks later on in the year.

My 2023 was financially hard because my second child was born and after maternity leave I hired a full-time nanny and ouch! 😅 But I already knew it and was prepared, it's just I can't save as much money as I was used to. I think that my 2024 will practically be the same. I love your work ❤

that's a shame, looks like it needs to be raised with unions and regulators as a possible idea, it works better in the long run as then retirees don't have to rely on pensions etc so much and can put money back into the community@@PersonalFinancewithLeila

Great goals! Although, I did laser hair removal for like 4 years and it didn’t really help. I would recommend electrolight. It’s more expensive but more worth it in my opinion (tho laser might work for you but I don’t really know anyone who has actually stopped growing hair from laser).

I have or rather had hyperhydrosis as well! It’s totally debilitating so I definitely understand. There’s actually a surgery you can have done called a thoracic sympathectomy that can cure it. My mom is from Peru and has a friend that’s a doctor so I had the surgery there and obviously it was a lot cheaper than in the states. I had it over 10 years ago and so far so good! My hands only sweat if it’s super hot out and even then they just get clammy. Love the video! You’ve inspired me a lot with my own financial plans! Good luck on the 100k subscribers! I just added 1 😄

Yay for goals! :) So far I've only settled on a networth goal because the next year is a bit of a wild card for me in regards to where I'll be in six months (exciting and scary at the same time XD) Have you considered doing more sinking funds for your sabbatical like for car insurance and rent and other stuff that creeps up during the year once you finish out the ones you set goals for? Then you'd have a set amount to save for and would be able to cover your expenses if needed. I have that for my yearly bills - i save up a bit more than needed (inflation...) for all the invoices that will come in during the year so i can just pay for them whenever and not worry.

I had laser done years ago for arms and sideburn area and I am very pale skin with dark hair. I was the perfect candidate. It's a bit of a jolt but I stuck it out. Others don't understand sometimes. When little honest children comment on your hairy arms it's an issue to me. I have PCOS as well.

I believe there may be a total max amount, meaning your max of $23,000 plus your employer’s max contribution $46,000. I found this on the Fidelity website “The 401(k) contribution limit for 2024 is $23,000 for employee contributions, and $69,000 for the combined employee and employer contributions.” Your HR department or financial consultant should be able to verify this info for you.

Would it be possible to go on your boyfriend’s health insurance since you live together, and pay him the extra cost directly? COBRA coverage will cost way more than anything else so plan ahead! We paid almost $3K/month for our family of 3 on COBRA for a few months when we were waiting to get health insurance set up for our small business.
