I never do goals for myself. Or better yet I guess the appropriate way of saying it would be that I give myself goals, but never really stick to them. Sometimes I don’t even write them down and promptly forget about them.😅 I’m going to try something different this year. I do have a couple of goals for my polishes that I’d like to attempt. One of my most recent goals is to go back to my favorite polishes of the year video and see how many of those polishes I still own and also if I still love them.

#1 polish goal this year is to only wear untrieds! So far, so good! 😅 I should probably also set a topper goal, since I too keep buying toppers I don't wear. I wore ZERO toppers last year! (Unless you count a quick coat of an ancient bottle of Northern Lights I forgot I owned.) Also, I've put myself on a loose NO-BUY. 😦

I set a budget of 50 polishes for 2024. I’ve bought 13 so far, so yay I’ll probably reach my goal by February!

I want to wear all my untrieds before I buy anything new & I also want to try to use up a bottle or two of the ones that are either mini sizes or almost empty. I think I can empty at least a few if I include base & top coats too.

I used to keep track of the polishes I wore. I just started again, because I made some lists(I'm not a spread sheet person)for polishes for each season to have my polish divided evenly throughout the year. So now I tick the box next to the polish again. It's nice to know what I'm wearing and what I'm not wearing. I wasn't wearing toppers either. I had them in the bottom tray of my box in the last row. Now I moved them to the top tray in the front, and I use them now. I only have 9 because I am very picky about them. I'm sure swatching is very taxing! Sometimes I want to see what some untried polishes look like on me the quick way and swatch away. Depending on how many, it can be a job. My goal, believe it or not, is to finish my polish collection. I thought I was done, but I found a couple of bad ones. It's just about there now though and I will not buy another until I finish one because I love all 165 of them.

Have you ever done a video on your set up for your swatch pictures? (Lighting etc) I always notice how well lit they are & colour accurate too 👏 Part of the reason I haven't started a swatch library, for personal use, is because I struggle to get well lit, colour accurate photos & it bothers me to look at my own inaccurate, dingy photos 😭🤣 I know it takes a lot of effort to find a set up that works, & I don't expect anyone to give aways all their Secrets 😂.. But it would make a really interesting video, if you were ever interested in sharing 🥰

lol I really appreciate your compliments because I honestly always feel like my photos aren't good at all. I just use a really cheap little light box my brother bought me on Amazon and I feel like it has helped a lot with color accuracy and it takes away the hard part of fiddling with lighting!

Thanks for sharing. I have a total of #236 polishes. My goal are: I want to wear all my untried (#29). Start doing ombré (at least #10). And finish 1-3 bottles of polish (white does not count). See you back here next year 😊

I really enjoyed your video and hearing your approach to all this because we are so different! I definitely don’t keep stats on my polish usage or write down goals for myself, but I find it very interesting to hear you talk about it. My goals for the year are very health related and very specifically about giving birth and recovering afterwards this spring. They’re also goals I need to be really explicit about with my family because I need to ask for a lot of support (having learned this the hard way the first time.) so my nail polish hobby feels entirely frivolous to me and I’m trying to keep it that way 😂

Fellow goal, data and spreadsheet lover here! Would love to know how you keep your swatch photos organized! Are they just in a folder in your drive? Are the seperated out by brands in subfolders? I'm guessing you link them in your nailpolish spreadsheet...? (I finally started my nail polish spreadsheet and I'm loving it!)

I'm on a low-buy this year so I have some guidelines I'm following for that. When I tried to plan for a true no-buy it legit gave me serious anxiety so a low-buy it is. As part of that, I want to decrease my percentage of untrieds. Right now it's a little less than 63% of my collection is untried (but my collection is looooorge so I have worn a LOT of polish and also destashed a lot that I have worn). So I'd like to try to get that below 60% if possible.

Maybe you could give yourself a rule, anytime you want to buy a new polish, you use an untried for your mani? It could help tie the two together.

I look at how you and a few others paint 4 or 5 nails, compared with Kelly Marissa swatching only one finger, and wonder if she's lucked on the magic formula. I'm thankful to everyone who is willing to show nail polish in multiple lights, but I can't imagine painting multiple coats, letting them drive, then taking pictures, removing polish and repeat. And repeat. And not getting paid for it. I hope your ad revenue continues to climb!

Wearing all of my untrieds wasn't specifically a goal for me last year, but I did work on that consistently. So for 2024, I think I can actually achieve the goal of wearing all my untrieds without it taking away my enjoyment of wearing whatever I'm in the mood for.

My biggest nail goal this year is also to build up my swatch library, I'm not sure why I never got in the habit of taking swatch pictures right away but I have a loooong way to go to complete my spreadsheet 👀 Also will you be doing a nail budget again this year? I enjoyed that quite a bit!

I would love a video on how you take your swatch videos. My nail pics are horrible 😂 I have no idea how to position, hold bottle, lighting, etc. I would love to do better this year on that. I did buy a planner to write down what I wore & bought to keep better track.
