Hey, Don. Initially heard you on a podcast with Lane and what you had to say there resonated with me. This video hit home as well. I don't want to half-ass my career any longer and decided to double down on the learning, experimentation, and building instead of falling into my bad habits. Good on you, and thanks for the confirmation that my past efforts weren't enough to get to where I want to be.

That's awesome to hear! If you really double down on this, you might be surprised at what you're capable of. The industry NEEDS more people who are actually serious about this.

I really like your honesty, I booked a call with you when I was in Malta talking about how I disliked front end development and now I am addicted to it, I just pushed through this discomfort and builds many apps, this week I will switch to react and continue building my knowledge on front end by building many apps

Hah, all too often we surprise ourselves with what we enjoy in the programming world if we stick with it long enough.

Hell yeah bro. I know what you are experiencing, and maybe I can help to frame it for you, about the "I wasn't really drinking that much...". For sure. I believe you. So, the thing is, there's a lower bound to, vitality, let's call it. That lower bound is called 'dead', lol, but seriously it is a bounded domain. And mostly, the average human is existing, somewhere nearer or farther from that limit. Little bit of junk food, few drinks, several drinks, puts you a little closer to that 'lower' bound, but whatever. Now, the actual point to all of this-the great great stuff-is that in the other direction, there is no upper bound. It's not that the 'bad is so bad', but rather that vitality is not capped. There is no limit to the degree of harmony, in which we can live with nature. I think it would be radical to see you keep your roll going. Good luck with that.

I feel like you won't feel much of a difference with a year of no drinking, but it's definitely worth doing. Good things take forever to grow and build up. It's like eating salad everyday you won't feel it immediately

But what to expect.. 25% of code in Google is now written by AI. Everyone is saying that AI will write code phenomenally good in coming years because it's easy to train for coding and math because cheap to validate. So I feel in 2 years it's like 95% of code will be written by AI...

a lot of people have been fed this lie on being a software engineer and I'm glad you consistently come on here and tell it how it is. I am CONSTANTLY learning and pushing myself to be better. let's be real I kind of suck at this lol, but I love it, and I know that if I keep doing this every day, I'll get good. it's a 24hour lifestyle, most engineers don't 'log off' cuz they are trying to keep up with everyone and be valuable in the field, when a lot of the competition is so smart and talented. Friday and Saturday nights, I'm on my laptop. every local restaurant knows me as the 'computer girl'. I have my laptop on me no matter where I am going. people including my husband say I work too much, but really, I don't see it as work, as I've said, this is a lifestyle. so, if you can't commit to being 'on the clock' all the time either working or learning and having fulfillment from that, then yea, quit. you're just wasting everyone's time, go do something that you love.

It's been clear for a while that you're taking it seriously and I love to see it. You may not see your effort pay off immediately, but it'll just keep compounding until it finally does. But don't be afraid to give yourself a day off once and a while lol

It's been almost a year and a half of people saying AI is going to replace developers. You're going to need to stop using that as an excuse eventually if you want to achieve much of anything in this industry.
