In 2024, I stick with Linux on all my computers as the main OS. I kept switching between Arch, Ubuntu, and Fedora. In 2025 I'd like to see if I can stick to one distro. Not sure if it'll happen, but I'm pretty certain I'm not going back to Windows.

My New Year resolution is to make Linux my main driver. I've used Linux Mint for 4+ years on a secondary PC, and the more I use Linux, the more I like it.
@c0wg0d11 сағат бұрын
All the stuff you said is coming next year sounds amazing! Long reviews, home server stuff, bash scripting, python programming, ricing (yes!!!), all great! I wish I could say my new year's resolution would be to get off Windows, but let's be honest, that's just not going to happen. Maybe I can at least try to learn NixOS in a VM, since I think that looks like the best distro out there right now.
@Leahi8415 сағат бұрын
Not really into home server stuff but ill definitely tune in for all of your Linux related videos! Good luck with your resolutions! I don't do new years resolutions because I never stick to or complete them. Just not worth the stress.

Happy Holidays to all the team of The Linux Cast. Thanks for all the great content in 2024 and success with the new ones!

I for one would love to see more home server stuff. Also, as someone who's had a similar opinion as you with emacs previously, I'd actually love to see you do a long-term emacs review. I also love the idea of ricing content focused around Hyprland. Wayland is indisputably the future of Linux GUIs, and at this point Hyprland, while still not "stable" appears to be the forerunner WM (or compositor) in that space so far. Thank you for all that you do for the community, Matt. I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and nothing but the best in 2025. Cheers!

I can say I am super excited about home lab stuff. Been looking to get into it myself. I just got an AOOSTAR to try to play around with some stuff. I would highly recommend making a beginning guide/tutorial. I know I would love it!

@sachinbhat705714 сағат бұрын
Could you also maybe take a look at other wayland compositors other than hyprland as well? Maybe qtile, newm-atha, wayfire and river would be nice.

I have no idea what home servers are. Like, why home servers? But I think you should make content on that if that is what you want to, otherwise forcing yourself to do something you do not want to do, will burn you out. Also, a lot of people who want to get knowing about home servers, will find it useful. I will definitely watch them.

I used emacs and vim over a year with both. To see what the hype was all about. Both are great and even used ed before these two. But I didn't settle down with them as my go to now a days. Been using micro forever now, so my default text editor will always be micro for the time being.

If you make video(s) about how to setup Docker to use Arch with AUR on something like Fedora (i hope im not got confused with app), it would be great content regardless of whether the person want to know about that typa staff or not

i tried open suse i had kde installed just to try it, not sure if it was the update or having 2 OS's on the system. being i have multiple hard drives. but it worked for a week and then 1 update and kde borked. my resolution went to 800x600 and only register'd 1 monitor and u couldn't change it in the settings, so idk what happened. then i went to install xfce to have a stable install. and it locked me out of graphical session. so grats on it working, im never leaving arch. its just perfect.
