Hey, Matt. If you will forgive me for being presumptuous & personal, I wanted to say how good it is to see you out from under that cloud of weighty despair that plagues many of us; you've seemed much lighter in these latest videos - both physically and mentally - and it just lifts my own spirits to see you speaking and moving with more ease and freedom.

I would’ve taken off either J Crew or Lucky Brand and added Under Armour. It’s similar to Nike where all the pieces have style codes to look up and a lot of it does really well for me.

Carhartt WIP (work in progress) is a home run in my experience. It doesn't look especially special, so the thrift stores don't generally mark it over regular Carhartt. Some of them in my area mark it all way too high however

Thanks for staying in the game. I'm new to selling and I hesitate to sell on eBay because it seems they've been getting a lot of negative feedback. I try to keep it simple. I follow what you said about offering a flexible and generous return policy. I want to make money but I also want to make this a pleasurable experience; I want to enjoy the process. Thanks again. All the best👍

Good List I would tend to agree. Carharrt for example does really well on certain items, jackets as you mentioned, thats the key to understanding brands, understanding what sells really well in one brand and not so well or only sell well a certain time of the year. Usually a company will have a couple products that attract customers to their brand for example lacoste polo shirt. G-Star does solid across the board but you would definitely get more for a jacket or jeans in that brand. Thats a Good List, but their are way way better brands out there and if you run across them at the thrift stores ever its usually an easy 50$ Minimum profit.

Those are all great. One that I always pick up is Tommy Bahama. It always sells and for pretty good money. I never have any sit for very long. And that's both men's and women's. Our Goodwills have started marking them up though so it's getting harder to find good deals.

I am shocked consumers take "untuckit" shirts seriously. Robert Graham shirts are low quality and the buttons fall off; also they don't survive washing. Good video - it is obvious you want to help people! I still look for PRL and Burberry for myself and indeed thrifting is a great way to save or make a few bucks - it is hard to belive what some people give away to Goodwill. Oh, and I agree Peter Millar is a great brand too - they are high quality like PRL.

As always, thanks for the hard work. My impression, following a number of channels is that I live in an area with exceptionally good prices. Unfortunately, the nearest Bins is a three hour drive. When you say "not much money," what is that in dollars? The Bins charge by the pound don't they? so that is almost nothing at all per garment.

I would be interested to know what buy -cost you would be okay with for most of these brands. Like are they mostly just for the bins or would you pick them up for retail thrift prices around $8?
@5DGuitars Жыл бұрын
Colin, "Bread and Butter" brands usually means that they sell OK but are not bigger money brands. The vast majority of the items will sell for $15-$25 incl shipping. These are the type of things you want to get for, IMO, no more than a buck or two. If you are fortunate enough to have any retail thrifts that still price in that range, then you are in good shape. More likely you will need to source these things from Yard sales, church or rummage sales, textile recyclers or flea markets and in bulk. Generally , when you hear Matt say, "pick these up at the bins" or " I wouldn't pay up for these", that's what he means.

Have you considered a small eBay store based out of Mexico? Wonder what the resell community is like there
@Deuce7Off Жыл бұрын
From my experience in Mexico it would become a lot tougher. The average Mexican is more business savy than the average American. Combine that with the fact that the majority of the country has lived in poverty for a long time and the average Mexican is better than the average American at stretching their income creates a difficult dynamic for resale. Also many Mexicans along the coast don't have good access to internet, the idea of same day delivery by Amazon is still a novel idea to them.

I learned from TikTok that an upside down pineapple is one of the official swinger symbols so you'll have to decide which way you put that pineapple in your grocery cart

I see Dad Planet grabbing 2 Padagonia jackets from his bin in Ohio but not here. I did find a pair of Diesel Jeans boot cut for women but none of the Poshmark buyers are even interested in my $60 price. Nobody cares about FootJoy Shoes, i have a very nice pair on display, nobody wants it etc. Ye Fox sells for 12 bucks.
