Excellent entertaining video! I loved that you left the mishaps and learning curves in. We've all been there. Thanks for the vid!!

I'm skeptical that it's less water. Could that estimate includes all the water used in the entire supply chain, not just watering the crops? Like down to the water used for the Haber-Bosch process? Or like washing the food before shipping? Do another video where you dive into that comparison :P

Yeah the article I read from the UN said it was from the industrial agriculture process from start to finish. Seems like there's some interest in the subject matter, so you might be right about needing to do a deeper dive. Thanks for watching man!

It's important to keep in mind that the water usage stat is mostly going to animal feed, not growing food for direct human consumption. Industrial production of potatoes takes less water than small-scale gardening of potatoes.

I'll have to look into that - it wasn't mentioned in the UN study I researched for this. My main goal is to lower my reliance on the city lines in order to boost my self-sufficiency. The economics of it all are just a supporting argument, but not my main focus.

I've always been told that in the USA it is illegal to collect rainwater... you wouldn't download a turnip?
@MikeMorash3 ай бұрын
If that's true that's pure insanity.

I believe that collecting rainwater is not federally regulated in any way, but is restricted in a few states. At a glance, it seems Kansas and North Dakota require permits to collect rainwater, while Colorado allows collecting 110 x 2 (220) gallon barrels of rainwater and Utah allows collecting 2,500 gallons. That being said, I really highly doubt any state government is gonna crack down on you collecting a bit too much rainwater or collecting it without a permit. For all intents and purposes, it may as well be concluded that it's unregulated in the vast majority of the US.

It’s a dumb rumor, it’s LEGAL in every state. Colorado has some restrictions but that’s about it.

Seems rain water would be very contaminated from the junk in the atmosphere. After all it passes through it on the way down.
@plantherum23653 ай бұрын
That might be a problem if you live in a very urban area yeah
@starsoldier36433 ай бұрын
@@plantherum2365 so the pollution only stays in urban areas. Yeah ok.
