OMG I LOVE THE NATURE its fascinating. you can visit rajcica monastery its close to mavrovo and leshok monastery near tetovo and gostivar also east macedonia is also beutiful if you want some reccomendations i will write to you because i had on my bucket list to visit all cities and beautiful places in Macedonia and it was cheap and UNFORGETABLE

Good morning, apologies for my slow reply. Yes feel free to recommend some places, I'm not going to be able to visit them on this trip since I already have plans but I'm sure I'll be back at some point. Interesting that I had Rajcica monastery on my list but didn't make it there due to some road problems a few videos back. I was hoping to drive the Debar Lake area but it was not to be. Next time perhaps! Thanks for the information regarding Leshok Monastery, I hadn't of that before. 👍

The weather this September is a little bit unpredictable and it's annoying when it messes up with our plans. On the other side it's good to have a day of rest even if it could slow down a little our tempo. Anyway, the lake is great and I hope that the weather will get more pleasant soon to give you better opportunities to travel and shoot the interesting places you visit. ~Philip

Thank you Philip, it can be a real challenge to film in heavy rain - especially as the camera isn't waterproof. I do carry a GoPro so I could use that but it's not the same and after a while the lens gets covered in water droplets. The best plan is to keep our fingers crossed!

Hi Matt How are you? Your rain looks like the rain we’ve recently experienced over here Good value for money your three bedroom villa. I’m certain all that driving and filming and editing takes a lot of focus and energy. At this stage I’m estimating you’ve spent around seven days in Macedonia by now. (That looked like a light dusting of snow high up on those ranges). Just yesterday a friend had her winter fire wood delivered. Until next time Zoltán

Hello Zoltán, all good with me thank you, how are things with yourself? I see on Instagram you have been busy again, more travels and enjoying the weather before it changes! I don't blame you one bit! I was really pleased with the villa and only wished I could have stayed there a bit longer. I think I would have enjoyed a bit of hiking in the hills and mountains surrounding the lake, more on that in the next video. I'm not sure about the snow, I don't remember seeing any at the time but you could be right. If the firewood needs cutting down a bit more I'm sure my good neighbour will lend you his chainsaw. All the best!

@@MattWhitingsEurope I am well, definitely enjoying the cooler cloudy weather, also looking forward to a friend from New Zealand arriving next week for a three week visit… I’ve wondered if you’ve previously considered to try finding a place you can use as a base and perhaps do return day trips to home base rather than setting up somewhere new every day.

That visit from your New Zealand friend sounds like there might be a few more day excursions on the horizon. Sometimes I do travel using a base but on trips like this I need to make a bit of progress each day. I did stay for two nights in Prilep which worked out quite nicely but then I was off again.

@@MattWhitingsEurope in fact we shall be visiting Budapest for six days in early October together with my mum with whom I live together here in Croatia. I know the Budapest well considering I first visited there way back during Iron Curtain days in 1978, again in 1982 and many other occasions beyond then.

News Headline: Resident of Lake Mavrovo in North Macedonia is reported as missing. The resident was last seen or perhaps better said heard one early morning last week cutting winter firewood with his chainsaw. A small white car was seen leaving or perhaps better said fleeing the area after a brief scream and the chainsaw went silent... 😄😄

So how does the average Macedonian who makes 440 e a month build home like this .Does the gov offer subsidizes for tourism. I`m a Cyclist is it cycling friendly ???

If wages are 440 a month that makes labour affordable, so building houses using local labour and materials works out. I guess exports would be expensive. I didn't see any cycle lanes but I did see a few cyclists out on the mountain roads enjoying the experience. Hope that helps!
