Tea grabbed...back at the end ☕👍♥️ nothing wrong with a long video Anthony, intact I'd go as far as to say we prefer them. Liked you logic on tackling the route this way round. Pleased the sun came out to great you too, some interesting sights among the way on day one! And a nice stop for lunch too 🤗 Good bit of training for the PW, good thinking on carrying the extra weight, will be worth it in the end, you'll be grateful along the PW 👍♥️ dont come across many soute signs on junction boxes lol, good spot! 🤭 Start of day two was nice and green, cant beat a good nature reserve! ♥️ 🧇 the tunnel looked ominous lol.....trust the train to come past as you did a bit to camera too, sods law! The mills looked and sounded intresting. Nice that one is now a museum, really good to hear. Chips and curry sauce, very lovley! Heck no need to apologise here, lovey curry, gravy and even salad cream on our chips, oooh beans too! We remember your Christmas video at that section too, nice to see it again 🤗 Cows, say no more! 😬🐮 well done for getting up after cricket picth stop! Day3 looked like a beauty, a d heading into the Peak District too, what awaits......mud! And shade hugging sheep 🤗 Loved how your route became greener and more majestic as your progressed, fantastic!🐜 Really well done Anthony, smashing trail and thanks for sharing this with us, well played AJ, how did you feel afterwards? 👍🤗 catch you soon, Ceri and Kat ♥️☕🏆 P.s every day is a tea day! 🍦☕

If I’d have known we were going to have a heatwave, I’d have suggested a nice cold drink 🍺 . The body felt ok afterwards, although I didn’t really enjoy carrying all that weight over 55 miles. It was a good practice for a longer trail though. I think I’ll look to use baggage transfer if I can as I’d rather enjoy the experience rather than it be a drag each day. Thanks very much for watching. I’ll have to start making some longer videos as I always enjoy watching others. I think 15 minutes of listening to me waffle is more than enough for anyone though!

That was a real joy to watch right from start to finish Anthony. I even made a brew too with which to sit down and watch this! 😊 Great to see you in all those familiar places. You definitely walked it in the right direction. I always find Shardlow and the area south of Derby quite uninspiring, so when you reach Duffield at the start of the hills, it gets a lot more interesting from there on. Glad you had some chips in Matlock Bath! 👍 Heatherdene is most certainly a great end to the walk. Did you manage to get your ice cream? A great 3 days then Anthony. Sounds like you might need to keep some ant killer in your rucksack next time..... 😂
@AnthonyJohnson1
@AnthonyJohnson1 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick. Thanks very much for watching. The green spaces of Duffield were certainly a welcome sight. Too much road walking prior to that for my liking. I think it’s the law to stop for chips when in Matlock Bath. It was very busy for a Tuesday though. I didn’t get an ice cream unfortunately so I’m assuming the van on comes at weekends and school holidays. I was very disappointed as I really fancied a 99! Luckily the ants weren’t the biting variety. The one problem with summer is the amount of annoying insects that take an interest in us 😆

Thanks Rob and very true. Consecutive high mileage days seem to break me, particularly when carrying a heavy pack. Apart from aching feet, I coped ok on this trail. Tea is on the boil...but no biscuits for me, but do have one for Otis! ;-) Such an amazing trail indeed...and carrying a pack for three days...that takes a bit of fortitude! Got planned our first camping trip for either later this month or early next month and planning for two nights...wish me luck with Otis! lol It is always surprising too the looks that I can get from some when I have stopped and enjoying a snack with Otis...mainly lots of smiles and Otis does seem to bring that out of people. Now my question to you is this, What are you going to do to top this one? ;-) A great adventure for sure...take great care now...Bruce and Otis

The Lady Boys of Bangkok? Surely you almost abandoned the walk for such an alluring temptation Anthony....😉🙄😁? I can completely relate to not having the physique of Charles Atlas when it comes to carrying heavy loads and whilst not being weight obsessive, it's something I pay attention to. Haha. I filmed that clip of the Ladyboys to wind up my wife. She’s always nagging me to go to one of their shows but there’s no chance.😆. I don’t enjoy carrying heavy loads at all if I’m honest. The 2 places I stopped at were ideal to be honest. They’re both directly on the trail so no additional miles to walk and it broke the trail into 3 manageable distances which should be doable this time of year if you start early enough. Good luck if you take it on. It’s an enjoyable trail 👍

Hi Anthony, that was a interesting trail to do and goes through some parts of the White Peak I haven’t been to before. I Wouldn’t mind giving it a go next year. Looks like you had some really nice weather too. If you don’t mind me asking, what camera do you use to film with? I’m finding DSLRs pretty bulky on long routes and am looking at upgrading my travel camera. Well done for smashing this trail! 👍 I am tempted by the Pennine Way having watched Dean Read’s 2019 videos of it and talked to someone local to me who has done it. Quite a bit of forward planning required on that one!
@AnthonyJohnson1
@AnthonyJohnson1 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Greg. I use a Sony ZV1 compact camera. It’s aimed more at a video than stills camera, but still has a 20 MP camera so you can get some reasonable photographs from it. I do have a Sony A7c camera too but I use that more for photography as it’s a bit bulky for filming. The PW is a bit in the balance at the moment as the logistics are proving a bit tricky. I think I’ve left it a bit late to book all of my accommodation. I’m still working on it though but if I can’t do it this year then I’ll walk a different trail instead in September.

Back to Tideswell this time. Thank you for the equipment info, it’s always great to see what others use and what they think of it. Nothing as good as a real world review! Sony are definitely making some good kit and are really ascending in the world of cameras. Don’t know if it is of use but I found the website Waypoint 51 a useful resource for the National trails. Thanks for another great video Anthony, I’m not sure what you do for a living but maybe you should have a go at being a tour guide, very informative . A nice short trail to get your teeth into. As for the comment regarding us southerners and sauce on chips, I like mayonnaise on mine, does that count? Haha. Thanks Tony. I’m a Project Manager in my day job so a tour guide would be a big change in direction 😆.
