This is my first year driving and what i did and will still do, i will find truck stops that have dirt lots with enough room to do straight backs and use that area to practice backing and learning how my trailer would move and how to not over or under correct when doing backing manuevers. Also, when trying to find parking at a truck stop, i would start my day at 3am and end about 2-3 in the afternoon. It's right after lunch rush and before everyone else shuts down for the evening. Makes finding a spot easier, and you have more open spaces to practice backing.

Ok they told us that in orientation it’s best to start early and be done early now I completely understand why because finding a spot can be difficult 😂 but ok great suggestions think you I’m going to keep all of this in mind 🙏🏽

Hey ms lady just take your time when you're backing. If you have to get out 20 times then do it. Make sure to watch other drivers park when you're in them parking lots or warehouses . Also if it takes you 8 hours to get somewhere, then try getting on the two hours earlier. This way you'll find away to use your driving time. Stay bless ✌🏾

I hope this helps you… when doing your set up… turn when your shoulder is half way through the spot after the one you are choosing… then turn your tractor to 1 o’clock position then quickly to 10 o’clock position, until you can see your spot in your driver mirror for a 45 degree. If you need a 90 then 1 o’clock to 9 o’clock. Once set up… think about opening a soda. You’re turning it counter clockwise…. In turn your opening your space between your trailer and the space next to you. Then if you are moving too far away from the trailer next to you, then you need to close it in….So think about closing your soda… by turning your wheel clockwise… so if you say to your self… open it up and close it in, this may help you… then once your doing your straight back.., keep your back tandem tires evenly in both mirrors… if you see one tire more than the other then make a small correction toward the tire you see more of, and if you over correct and see more of the tire on the other side, then make a small correction towards the tire you see more of. This will keep you straight if you see both tires equally. If there is barely any space between trailers, you can move your tandems furthest to the rear of the trailer and this will cut down the swing and correct as above… tell yourself either…open it up, or close it in. I hope this makes sense❤

@@MONAYSULLIVAN there are really good you tube videos of Birds Eye views of backing. When you have a narrower space eg truck stops, you will need to pass 2 spots before beginning your set up 1 &10, or 1 & 9… but if you have plenty of room then you really only need to pass one. I really wish you the best and you got this!💕

You're so cute and bubbly and that's also what's going to hurt you in this business. These trucking companies and brokers will take advantage of your naivety and abuse you. Please do yourself a favor and get your tanker and hazmat. Companies like Lindee, Indian transport, Gemini, Pilot and Airgass pay on avg 1900 to 2300 gross a week and you can be home everyday. Some have 4 day work weeks and drive less than 1500 miles a week. They are paying you slave wages to drive endless miles and have no life. Be smart and safe out here driver.

Aww, thank you for the compliment and the advice.. but yes I have noticed that they working us like slacks but I will definitely look into hazmat an tanker’s, I thought you had to have at less one year of trucking experience before getting hazmat. @@MONAYSULLIVAN My Apologies for the late reply. After I made the Delivery in North Alabama, my plan was to park at the truck stop nearby. It was already 1am & Dark outside, smh. So I decided to pull into the truck stop through the back driveway.... There was small barriers near the driveway but I got out & looked twice. It's looked as I'll make it in but as I pulled up 3 of my rear trailer tires ran over 1 of the barriers 🫣... And caused 3 tires to pop ... Omg.. After that I realized there was a "Truck no entrance" sigh there... That was facing the wrong way.... I called roadside service & went to sleep 🫡😮💨 😴 😴 💤

Most of the Petros have lots of parking some are paid and some are not. As a female driver I highly recommend keeping $20-25 for parking for Petro or TA. Then u can take your shower at Loves or wherever u have the most points at. Also look for welcome centers they have good parking as long as u get there by 5 or 6pm. Same time applies for Loves, TA, Pilot or Flying J. Now on the weekends a lot of drivers are doing 34 hr reset so get to those places early if u can. The worst place to find parking is Texas @ Loves. Good luck driver 💪🏾🚛
