Very refreshing to see a 23yo guy so into 70’s music….😊 Just a small education Bryer: That Blue Oyster Cult song is pronounced M E 262, not Me 262. It is named after the German second world war aircraft, the Messerschmitt 262. The world’s first (arguably) jet plane to see active service in wartime. You can also check out the lyrics, quite interesting.

That was fun seeing your 1970’s albums. So many great ones to choose from. I would add Band on the Run, Let it Be, Imagine, After the Goldrush, Harvest, Tapestry, Moondance, Cosmos Factory, Led Zeppelin IV, Blue, and Deja Vu to that list.

Love Billy Joel's 70s albums. His classic era. Sabbath are wicked must haves for the collection. Court and Spark is a fave Joni album. Nice Joy Division too! Transformer is awesome. A really fun album.

It's always good to see young people appreciate the greatness of the music of my teenage years. I'll give you a top 50 because I've included live albums and compilations in my list, as well as selecting more than one album per artist. This is based on plays over the last few years. Three are only 3 plays between first and sixth, so the list can vary over time with 44 plays needed to be top. Those albums in 48th place have been played 22 times. 1 A Trick Of The Tail - Genesis 2 Who's Next - The Who 3= Crime of the Century - Supertramp 3= Saint Dominic's Preview - Van Morrison 3= The Royal Scam - Steely Dan 6 Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen 7 A New World Record - Electric Light Orchestra 8 Selling England By The Pound - Genesis 9= Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd 9= Into The Music - Van Morrison 9= It's Too Late To Stop Now - Van Morrison 12 The Book of Invasions - Horslips 13= Crisis? What Crisis? - Supertramp 13= Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs - Derek & The Dominos 15= The Who By Numbers - The Who 15= Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd 17= City Boy - City Boy 17= Moondance - Van Morrison 19= 1967-1970 ("The Blue Album") - The Beatles 19= Argus - Wishbone Ash 19= Roxy Music Greatest Hits (1977) - Roxy Music 22= Darkness On The Edge Of Town - Bruce Springsteen 22= London Calling - The Clash 22= The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie 25 Year of the Cat - Al Stewart 26 Blowin' - Jess Roden 27= Heat Treatment - Graham Parker 27= Joan Armatrading - Joan Armatrading 27= Live And Dangerous - Thin Lizzy 27= Marquee Moon - Television 27= Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy - The Who 27= Wind and Wuthering - Genesis 33= Can't Buy A Thrill - Steely Dan 33= Past, Present and Future - Al Stewart 33= Quadrophenia - The Who 33= Wings Over America - Paul McCartney 37 Seconds Out - Genesis 38 Country Life - Roxy Music 39= 24 Carat Purple - Deep Purple 39= Blood On The Tracks - Bob Dylan 39= Station To Station - David Bowie 42= All Mod Cons - The Jam 42= Desire - Bob Dylan 42= Life On The Line - Eddie & The Hot Rods 42= Modern Times - Al Stewart 42= The Wall - Pink Floyd 42= This Is The Moody Blues - The Moody Blues 48= Animals - Pink Floyd 48= Exile On Main Street - The Rolling Stones 48= Hotel California - Eagles 48= Live At Leeds - The Who 48= Nursery Cryme - Genesis 48= Relayer - Yes 48= The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway - Genesis 48= The Original Soundtrack - 10cc There are many more fantastic albums that lie outside my top 50. The 1970s deserves a video for each awesome year.

Great list at least 20 of them would be on mine . I might’ve added Demons and wizards by Uriah Heep or Outlandos D’Amour by the police. If you want to check out some relayer on live video look at yes live at QPR with Patrick Mraz on keyboards. Also you might wanna check out the channel ranking the obscure for a lot of cool 70s music you might not have ever heard of. I’ve really expanded my enjoyment of 70s music by watching his videos.

Awesome video mate, you chose some real classic albums here! Once I listen to Pink Floyd’s The Wall for the first time I will let you know my thoughts on it! Some other classic 70s albums that didn’t get a mention are Paul McCartney’s RAM, George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass, Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon, Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On as well as the albums that Jason mentioned in his comment on this video! The 70s it’s not my favourite decade of music, my favourite is the 60s! My favourite album from the 70s is either American Pie by Don McLean or Jackson Browne’s self titled album!

If you have never heard "Argus" by Wishbone Ash you are missing out. Music critics consider it to be the first "concept album" and Wishbone Ash is widely credited with being the first twin lead guitar band that Thin Lizzy copied. Ritchie Blackmore has said the only guitarist he would ever have tip his hat to is Andy Powell of WA.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath was a staple in my youth. The quintessential Prog Sab album. I have 2 albums that are core emotionally. One is from the 70s, Moody Blues Seventh Sojourn. I was doing Year 12 and in a bad place emotionally. Our system was that Year 12 final exam results (end of year, five 3 hour exams) determined university placings and....the rest of your life. I was a wreck. I hated English (i.e. literature, comprehension, analysis, etc), and that was a compulsory pass. In Year 12, we had a Common Room where we all studied. Someone had a cassette of Seventh Sojourn, and put it on occasionally, and it was so soothing and peaceful, it changed the angst and the negative dynamic. I smashed English, and I've loved and honoured the album ever since. I bought the CD recently to close the emotional deal. If you like tuneful, soft, English (the country), folky prog pop, listen to it.

What do you know….we love the same Genesis/Peter line-up album FOXTROT but I don’t think of Supper’s Ready when I hear this album it’s track number 4 “Can utilities and the coast-liners” as the track to hear this album. Everyone talks about Supper’s Ready, although it’s a great song not much to write home about. If you disagree with me that’s fine I look for the non album tracks stand out more then the normal tracks the “supposed” that’s enough from me. I think you heard enough from me today. 🎶🎵🎹
