my advice would be to look deeper into why your motor went try to fix it for cheap then sell it or get a jdm 5 speed with an ej207 and run a safe 300whp and keep that jon because that bugeye is sexy

you can get a jdm ej205 off ebay for around 1300 shipped. or you could rebuild the shortblock. its not that hard. some people have also done hybrid setups with an older ej22e shortblock.

As a fellow bugeye owner I hope you don't sell it. I just did the 207 with the 6 speed swap. What I did was bought a full front clip with rear diff, then sold all the leftover parts. Got the clip for 7400 on eBay, sold my old stuff and the leftover JDM stuff for like 3 - 4 k. If you can do the work yourself you can end up with the 6 speed, ej207, and the brembo brakes for around 4k. Good luck to you and I hope you guys figure it out.

Just do a hybrid build. Ej255/Ej257 short block with your ej205 heads, thick head gasket to compensate for the compression. Boom. You’re welcome.

JDM EJ205, since you have a bugeye get a non avcs motor, swap over your intake and exhaust manifold as well as there is one coolant line you need to swap but that’s it, NASIOC states a 9.0 to 1 compression (USDM is 8.5 to 1) and it also starts other things but that’s for the AVCS motor, it’s a simple swap bro do it and post it

Ej255 lower end + your heads. Easy, stronger, more low end, and you could toss in some are studs while having a fresh head gasket. I'm a fellow paper weight owner so I'm doing all the debating now. Lol. Bought a jdm ej205 I thought was clean and had to send it back. What a mess

Hit up some machine shops you can get a EJ205 short block for like $300-$500 and a full rebuild will cost around $1500-$2000 better than getting a used EJ205 but their are pros and cons pros you get a strong motor cons will take time

Honestly, it depends on how much you like the car. It seems like you don't wanna part with it yet cuz you're not done your build. So bite the bullet and rebuild the engine. You've got some great mods on the body already. But if you're done and fed up with the car and don't care about it anymore. Then part it out and buy an s2k. Would be a new exiting build for you. Either way Imma keep watching. Good luck with the decision.

JDM EJ207 V7 or V8 Twinscroll and match it with a 06 or 07 Sti 6 speed if you want to keep the stock r-160 rear diff.

Just keep it simple and rebuild the 2.0 with rods and pistons. You wont have to fuck with wiring or anything crazy and you can put an 18g on there and make a reliable 320whp. No need to get a crazy jdm swap or do a 2.5 swap. Too much money if you don't got the money. Keep it simple. Rock the 2.0.

buy a H6(ez30) which is the subie 6 cylinder its a much stronger and cheaper engine from subaru and will make for a good project with great content as there is little content on that engine yet it sounds great and is a good engine. think about it.

SimpleCarTips makes good power and spools super fast, and the Avcs gives you a lot of torque. Just make sure you get a full swap with a jdm ecu if you decide to!

I'm currently driving a 2002 WRX that's currently pushing 281WHP/271WTQ @ 20psi's on a stock USDM EJ205. The build was completed back in 2014, including a 2011 Gearset in the stock 2002 WRX transmission casing, my car has since been running without much issues. IMO, I think rebuilding the USDM EJ205 would be the most cost effective way for you to get your car back on the road. It will hold enough power that your transmission can take, and in the event your transmission blows you can always upgrade to another WRX 5-Speed (cost me 1700CAD for my whole transmission job). follow my instagram! @_ej2slow
