Favorite source for all Microgreen seeds Truleaf Market; 1.) Peas - i. Speckles: Less Tendrils & Green Peas - more tendrils preferred by chefs for plates! 2.) Radish - very spicy, Super intense for color and meat dish. Super easy to grow and high yield. Like Medicine with high nutrient levels of close to 40x the mature plant. 3.) Sunflower - High yields up to 2# in a 10x20 flat, durable good for salad mix, last 2 + weeks or more in the refrigerator. 150 gm seeding per 10x20 flat. 4.) Salad micro-greens mix - Chefs like the splash of color. Buys the basic salad mix of: Kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, arugula, cabbage red acre, and sprinkles in Amaranth for the mild mix. For Spicy substitute sprinkling in radish, arugula, and mustard. 30-40 or if growing to true leaf stage then 20 gms.

Feed calcium (sterilized egg shells) to worms. The worm castings will be amino acid chelated and easy to absorb. Calcium gives your plants longer shelf life. Feed the worms coffee grounds for Nitrogen. Feed them some rock dust. Mix the worm castings with your sprouting soil.

Have you tried buying your peas and sunflower at regular grocery stores and feed stores? I’ve tried all sorts of peas from grocery stores that are 1/5th the price and germinate, yield and taste identical. For sunflower you can buy them in bulk at feed stores “black oil sunflower” and I believe it’s the same and extremely cheaper. I can’t tell the difference if there even is any. Great video!

Hi there, I've been watching your videos for a while. they are awesome. But I couldn't find one taking about how to reuse the soil after harvesting. How many times do you use the same soil? And how do you compost it. If you could make a video talking about these topics I'd really appreciate it. Greetings from Argentina!

@cannotbeshaken7889 Жыл бұрын
I made sunflower sprouts and liked them. So, then I made sunflower microgreens and I don't like them because they taste like dirt. Its as if the dirt they were grown in, flavored the crop. So, now I'm trying to grow them with no medium at all. If that doesn't work, then I'll just stick to the sprouts.

Hi, I did not hear if you gave the approximate "Yield" of a tray of radish with ~75g of seed, or of salad mix with ~30 to 40g of seed or 20g if grown to the true leaf stage? Thank you!
@MicrogreensFarmer6 жыл бұрын
Radish I average 15oz, salad mix 7oz (and more like 8 on the spicy mix). For true leaf stage it depends on how long you let them go, but the weight is higher (up around 10oz). I don't really do the true leaf stage on purpose -its not one of my offerings simply because my system is very focused on simplicity and timing. I do it sometimes when I get cancelled orders though. Growing to true leaf works well for green house growers.

Hey Nate! My sun shoots grow fantastic, but my Thomas Laxton Pea shoots grow very 'stemy'! I have about 3" or maybe more of pretty bare stem before any 'branching' and leaves, except for a couple tiny leaf shoots. Is that normal? I've been using 1 4100 and 3500K bulb each per fixture, 2 fixtures per rack, so it seems like the light intensity is there. Would switching to 6500K bulbs make a difference in eliminating some of this long, bare-stem problem? Thanks!
@MicrogreensFarmer6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure to be honest - I've never grown that specific variety. I would just recommend testing it or trying different seed. Its not uncommon to have 3" of mostly bare stem on the non-tendril varieties though. Thanks for watching!

Mike I hate that company with a passion. Trump just signed a bill giving them even more free rein than they already had and I know for a fact that we are eating things that are gmos that are not labeled or known about. They're even in the flower business.
