Thinking the same thing. I just used a regular old blender after the pot steamed it, then used an ice cube tray. All well cleaned. And the ice cube portions seemed like a good amount. Then I’d mix & match as they ate more. One ice cube of carrots, one ice cube of beets, and 1/2 ice cube of chicken (I froze meats in smaller amounts). Warm it, & serve! Yum!
@michellerhodes5477
@michellerhodes5477 2 жыл бұрын
@@mykijiji1958 I used the same method!! I used a little blender I found at a thrift shop cause who wants to clean a huge blender (unless you're making several trays) but I generally only did it for a weeks worth of food. I used ice cube trays for home and little condiment Tupperware like containers with lids for taking on the go or to her sitters house. To this day...16 years later... this kid rarely eats non homemade food. She never really ate convenience meals (and I wish she would have cause damn would I have loved a night off with chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese, lol). But at least she eats well and isn't a huge junk food eater. She also has a healthy relationship with food and loves veggies and fruits so I feel it was worth the effort. ❤️

THIS is one of many reasons why I would feel privileged and blessed to be a stay at home mother. I know exactly what my baby is eating, I get to spend time with the little one, I'm in the comfort of my own home, and I'm confident that I have direct control over the nutrients and freshness for my child. Love this!!! Edit: Some people out here love adding things to the mix of what I said. I literally never said anything about not having time, not wanting to do things in my career, or not being organized. I cited being comfort of my own home; spending time with the baby, and knowing what's in the food as some of MY reasons. People out here are just ridiculous 😂

This is why I love the Asian family system. I grew up with my grandparents and my parents. Even if my mum was busy at work, i got the best care. I don't understand nuclear family systems, where the mom ends up doing chores and childcare, while the dad is busy at work. It's so stressful. Right now I'm watching my nephew being spoiled by his grandma and his great grandma, while his mom gets to rest and take care of herself after giving birth ❤️

My mom just used a $20-30 food processor. I’m 30 and she used the same machine for making baby food for my nieces and nephew when they were over and that was 11 years ago, 7 years ago and 2 years ago. I mean - she even blended up homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes, carrots, all separately for them in that thing so whatever we ate, they ate. She’d throw watermelon in there, strain out the seeds and freeze it in cubes for teething, etc. I love this easy prep idea to have things ready to defrost and eat for the kid- simple and easy to store as well and you can make multiple servings with a small batch and reduce food waste all in the same mission. Don’t feel bad if you can’t afford the $230 purée machine - get a $8 steamer basket at Walmart for steaming and a $30 small food processor as well and you’re ready to go. Add it to your baby registry works good too.

I did this and froze it into cubes that I kept in Ziploc bags in the freezer. This allowed me to change it up daily and add variety. Thaw it in the microwave and you're good to go. It also allows you to start with pureed food and then grind it up coarser as the baby gets older and gets teeth. My kids are in their mid 30s now, so there was no such thing as pouches of baby food back then.

I'd usually take a few hours on a Sunday and make a ton all at once. Lots of frozen fruits being steamed, squash baked, sweet potatoes boiled, etc then they'd all go in the blender and get bagged and labeled/dated. The bags are freezer safe so I could make enough food for a month sometimes. It was very messy and I can tell you I didn't get much else done that day but there were so many baby food recalls and glass found in jars that the peace of mind was worth it for me.

@@sevnteenseconds safety game Doorknob is a game in which participants are supposed to say "safety" after they flatuate before other participants say "doorknob". This is known as "calling doorknob". If other participants call doorknob before the flatulater calls safety, then the non-flatuting participants are encouraged to physically assault the flatulater until he or she touches a doorknob. The game is generally assumed to be continuously active, and participants are frequently forced into the game unexpectedly, even against their will.

When I used to take care of my siblings when they were little, I would just steam the veggies, wait for them to cool down and I'd used a spoon to scrape s little amount of the veggie and then feed them what I scraped with the spoon, it saves a lot of time and you honestly get the same result, if not easier bc you skip all those steps. It works for most veggies and fruits, just scrape it and to the mouth it goes.

Be careful about the plastic. A glass blender with veggies steamed in a metal pot is cheaper and safer. Glass bottles, or frozen in muffin tins works, too. You don't need specialty products that are usually made in China with questionable chemicals. Not to mention they most often get tossed out after baby is grown making more garbage. Use what you have. Saves money and environmental impact is less.

@@autumncenizal4219 Just rinse with water I’m guessing. But there’s no need for this whole machine. You can steam whatever vegetable you have, mix it with a hand mixer, divide it over a baby food tray and freeze it up to 3 months. And then simply pull the frozen food out of the tray and heat it up in a cup or bowl. If I remember correctly you can start with a few spoons of the food with a baby of 4 months old and then gradually work it up to 150 grams. And from 6 months on you can mix two vegetables together for the baby to try and then mix in mashed potatoe (babies love sweet potatoe more), rice or macaroni until it’s chunky. That’s how I was instructed to do it when I worked at a daycare. (And obviously don’t use any seasoning or prepare it in any other way than to boil the ingredients or steam them 😉)

Baby food is one of the safest products with the least amount of additives to buy in store. Factoring into the time it takes to make and clean when you make your own and the relatively low price of baby food, it's not necessarily worth it to do this. The cost of the product to make/store the food and the food itself can be less than buying it in store (if you use it for long enough) but if you consider time as money... It does open you up to being able to try food combinations that might not be available in-store, though. This is coming from someone who did make their own baby food (and with the same cooking system, but not packaging system -- I just used plastic containers -- she had).
