Coruba is definitely one of those Rums I always have in stock. I recently discovered a new rum from Transcontinental Line , 'High Seas' , and it's earned itself a permanent spot on my shelf. Really blew me away... Great for mixing AND sipping

Myers rum is cheap, I’m sure it’s flavored and colored, and I don’t care! It’s great in cocktails calling for black blended or just dark rum. Much like coruba, it just works. Curious what other people think

Top five that varies a lot depending on what I like at the moment. At the moment I am in love with these for cocktails Denizen Vatted Dark K&L/Hunter Liang Golden Devil Navy Blend Dakabend Blanco Mai Kai Blend (4:1:1 Coruba/Appleton Sig/W&N Overproof) Hamilton/Beachbum Berry Navy Grog Blend Side note: I am completely in love with a bottle I got from Paris, Manutea Tahitian Cane Rhum, Unaged cask strength it's a monster, I would be through 3 bottles but I can't replace it.

Those are great choices! I can’t find Coruba anywhere in Sacramento!! My go to rums are: Appleton 12 (8 if 12 isn’t available), Hamilton 86 (or El Dorado 12), Plantation OFTD, Bacardi 8, and Hamilton White Stash (amazing in a daiquiri). I always try to have a good stash of those on hand

I would have put money on Appleton 12 being the most poured. I can't find Coruba here in Austin, but Appleton 12 is usually around $34-36.

I only bought a bottle of Coruba since it was featured so heavily on the channel, had to find at at a more specialty liquor store though as the big players (total wine, bevmo) don't carry it in my state. It's perfectly adequate for mixing and a good price point for a 1L bottle.

So I’m pretty much on the money with my usual rums - even with the harder to get Hamilton rums (they don’t sell in the U.K., I have to buy when I go over to the USA) but Coruba is impossible to get in the U.K. and can’t find it when I shop in Florida! Great list!! But I’d also love to know how big your rum collection is now!?

Flor de Cana is cheap and always available in my area. It’s 12 and 15 year are significantly cheaper than el dorado or Appleton 12. Any reason you never mix with them? I haven’t bought anything from them yet, but somewhat curious as to why they don’t seem to get a lot of press in cocktail channels? Is it terrible?

They're not bad at all, but since I am often following a recipe and often they are historic they never call for a Nicaraguan rum. You could sub them in for any Spanish style rum but then that opens up other bottles like aged Puerto Ricans rums which are usually the same price or cheaper. So Flor de Cana is very good buy cant sub for a Jamaican or Guyana rum.

Once the Hamilton rums get to us here in Europe, I'll have to get the whole selection. Is coruba any good? That one I could get. The other three I have and use regularly. I think I'll have to make a count of this sort for myself as well. Just numerics, no video.

If you like Bacardi 8 you should try Don Q 7. I find it a bit better and then you aren't supporting Bacardi.

Easier said than done. It’s generally hard to find Don Q 7 where I live. And while I’m not here to support any mega company, Bacardi’s reach goes far far beyond rum and probably accounts for a heavy percentage of most people’s bars.

Bravo on the message at the start man. In any category of spirit, the “best” is the one you like to drink, the way you like to drink it. There’s a (recently) prominent tequila channel that has close to half of its content focused on telling people what not to buy, and it’s really put me off from watching the guy. Like who are you dude? Excellent list BTW 👍
