Thanks for the shoutout, Pam! I really like this video, especially the idea of starting with 3 games (instead of 1) and embracing the playtest/iterate process.

Thanks so much, Jamey! Yes, I think playtesting multiple games to see what works rather than assuming what you think will work is key. Thanks for watching and for writing your book and blog that are such great resources for designers 🙌

There is no greater motivation to work on your prototypes than to have a playtest scheduled. 100% true

I almost always spend some time to make my prototypes fancy. Easy to get playtesters that way 😊

Deadlines are really the best motivator for me to get things done. Back when I had a writer's group, I'd get so much writing done on a weekly basis for fear of the shame of showing up unprepared. Its an effective motivator like you said!
@PamWallsGameDesign3 ай бұрын
Totally!! Having that accountability/fear of letting people down can be a huge motivator. Looking forward to playing your game next week :)

Playtester meetup? Other designers games? Community around gaming? It must be nice to live in a place where that's a reality...

I don’t think it’s wise for a new designer to run a kickstarter..a successful campaign takes a lot of money..some of these publishers are spending 200k on their campaigns. Learning to create hype is the most important part.
@PamWallsGameDesign4 күн бұрын
Yes I agree it is a lot of work and money upfront! That's part of why I don't self publish on Kickstarter. Thanks for watching and for the comment 🙌

An suggestions for some whose health is too poor to get our there to playtesting events and also lives in the middle of nowhere so its too awkward for people to get here? Family and friends do some, but more varied opinions would be better.

Online playtesting! I playtest online with my members every Sunday, if you want to join. There are other groups who meet online to playtest as well like Vancouver Playtest and Virtual Playtest Group on Discord.
