I used to have scabs on my scalp from relaxers too. It’s kind of surreal to think about how we have the most delicate and unique hair on the planet and we have been brainwashed into burning and chemically frying our hair to the point that we harm ourselves just to achieve a look that doesn’t even honor the beauty of our unique hair.

it is so sad and disheartening💔 manipulating and altering oneself to the point of physical damage is such a terrible thing. i am so happy that more black people are (re)learning how to care for ourselves so things like that no longer happen

I’ll be 2 years this December and you have made me feel so much better about wearing wigs while on this journey. I think I def want to add extensions to get it closer to shoulder length. I’m so happy I found your channel❤

Thank you so much for this video! I'm a year into my diy microloc journey and it was so nice to see this video and know that there are soooo many different parts of the journey ahead for me, good, bad, and ugly! It's so nice to have this video as a community resource as more Black woman lock their hair. Nice to see what others before you have experienced! Your locs are soooo beautiful and I love your journey! Hoping mine develop similarly! (perhaps without the adolescent emotion fueled dye jobs hahaha).Keep growing out your hair like this, it looks lovely, especially with the dark roots and no one gives white woman shit for refusing to start over after damage! No shame in growing your hair out instead, it is YOURS.

Thank you so much for giving us an insight in your journey. I am still in 2 minds to come on this journey. At present I am focusing on growing out the dye from my hair and getting regular trima for healthy hair. I'm not sure if your 'microlocs' were done on a grid like sisterlocs. Can you clarify? I want mine to be small but not fine. Once I achieve a healthy head of hair I will see where Im at!

hi love, i think it is a very smart idea to start your locs on healthy hair, so your locs can be as healthy as possible. mine are on a grid, however, i do wish they weren't. even though the grid has a lot of pros, i feel as though (being someone with fine hair) that my locs would have been more full if i chose to go without. at the end of the day though, i do not believe you can go wrong with either choice

@@DesmoneShyanne That's interesting! So do you think microlocs would have given you more volume?
