My 93 yr old friend & neighbour, John Cranenburgh, playing my Dad's old piano, at Meed. 06/06/2024

For years John, a friend I met through my Mum and her involvement with the Hounslow Seniors Trust, used to pop in to see me every so often at Meed.
After Dad died in 2015 and I inherited the tiniest of his many pianos, being the only one I had space for at Meed, John would regularly spoil me by playing Dad's old piano for me.
While Mum was alive, she'd sometimes come over and sing along with him too. I like to think she and my Dad and their friends are all having a fantastic jam session together in heaven.
Last year, around September John injured his wrist while playing tennis, and his health and confidence rapidly went downhill. He was losing weight too, which worried his wife Inez and all his family and friends.
His lovely son flew over from Australia to support his parents and to help get John the health investigations and treatment he needed.
They found he had lung cancer, but miraculously that has cleared up of it's own accord, which has boosted him up no end, so on Thursday he surprised me with a visit and delighted me by playing the piano for me again, just for a little while.
He says he's back to playing the saxophone too and that he'll play for longer next time he comes over, which I am really looking forward to.
