That's a great Carina! I wasn't aware that Motorfix sold a conversation kit nowadays and I'm happy to hear that. You also mention you have an early version of the Carina, but actually you have the facelift. The earlier version had it's double headlamps directly under the bonnet while the later features the bezel at the top. Also your tail lights are the later version. Another question I have are about the side lights. Did it come like this when you imported it? The factory spec doesn't feature then as these aren't required in Japan.

woah thanks for the info! I was under the impression it was an early spec as its a GT and not a GT-R but maybe I'm wrong there. Do you mean the red side reflectors on the back? They are just aftermarket put on by a previous owner.

@@Edmard There was indeed an early GT that only featured the 2T-G or 18R-G, but then in September 1982 the 18R-G got replaced by the 3T-GTE powered TA63. This then in turn brought the GT-TR trim level for the TA63. However, the 2T-G remained only available as a GT. Then with the arrival of the 4A-GE, it replaced the 2T-G and also added the GT-R trim level. But for both TA63 and AA63 the GT and GT-T trim levels remained available as well. These can be considered to be "lower spec" but in reality they were meant as the "lightweight" variant, while the R trim level was more luxurious and more heavy. Think of it as the difference between an AE86 GT-V and GT Apex, where the latter is the luxurious variant.
