Hello! I'm an international student going on a semester abroad and I'm considering coming to Aberystwyth. I was just wondering if you found that it was isolated being in such a small town on the coast? Were you able to visit other places throughout the UK easily or is it difficult to reach via public transit? Thanks!

Aberystwyth isn't that small a town - there are many much smaller ones in the UK. What it does have is a proper community atmosphere(students don't all disappear off home every weekend), beautiful countryside and a long history.

@@tabithasinclair6821 hi! I’m in year 13 now ahah, and i’m sending off my UCAS application next week which is scary!! i’m applying to two unis that are more local to me as well as two unis that are quite far away as i got a job which i absolutely adore and i’m not entirely sure if i want to move away from that yet! but unfortunately i’ve ruled out aberystwyth, not because there’s anything bad but purely because of the fact that the area surrounding doesn’t have a lot of what i enjoy such as dance classes, acting classes (etc) :)

Hi, I've just accepted a conditional offer from Aber and will start sept 2022. Thank you! you've put my mind at ease. I definitely feel a lot better especially as you said its a very safe place. Being a woman from London feeling safe especially at night is feels like a luxury...

You’ll defo feel safe! I’d walk home alone at 3am in Aber and never felt unsafe. Obviously there’s dodgy areas but that’s more in the outskirts where you’d never be! Hope you enjoy your time in aber!

Hi, I appreciate this was filmed 2 years ago. Hope your still answering lol, but I'm really drawn to Aberystwyth University, for many reasons, one being the beach. I went to an online open day today and asked a student, and aparently the students go down there a lot during summer and it sounds like crazy atmosphere! However it dawned on me that an accomidation contract only lasts up till the final term ends, and our british summers take a while to kick in. Soo, that left me thinking. If one of the biggest selling points is it's unique location, then surely it'll take a while to heat up, by which time the halls/student house contracts will have expired right? Because in summer you don't have a place to live and have to sort it out, go back to your families or do whatever and miss the optimal time to use said beaches. Anywayssss, my questions are, a} do you feel like you use the beaches enough to consider it as a good enough factor to persuade someone to go and b) what do the majority of students do during the summer, because I've never actually thought about it. Do you wrent somewhere and spend your summer in aberystwyth whilst applying for next year's accomidation? Do you go home to your families for the whole summer? What happens in between?
@TheGiraffesLife4 жыл бұрын
Hi!! Thanks for watching!! Aber is SUCH a good place to go for uni as you really build your community and everyone's literally on your doorstep which is AMAZING. The beach is defo somewhere people go all the time for BBQs, drinks, ice creams etc. In regards to accomodation, the uni ones are usually just during the terms whereas when you go into private the agreements are usually 12 months so start in june and end in june so you can stay all summer if you want! a lot of students do go home as its quite far away so you dont have the opportunity to go home and see your fam that often (not something that bothered me) but there's also lots who stay and get jobs for the summer etc. so it really depends on what you want to do. but the sun does come out even during spring and autumn so you can always get down to the beach to enjoy it!
@NaomikRees4 жыл бұрын
There are different accommodation licenses one of them actually ends at the start of September!! So if you enquire about that you should be able to find something that works for you. Also the beach/pier, tho best in summer, would be good for walks n whatnot almost all year round :)) I’m also going to Aber uni this year :))
