Thank you for providing this information. There is so much shame, regret and remorse for mothers that have adult children who are behaving in destructive ways and there are few resources for them.I am living with an adult niece that is out of control and though intended for moms, your videos provided me with great information and resolve.I will definately be passing this channel on to others and hope you have more success and peace than you can handle. If you need to do a rerun, you will. If you are truly complete, you’ll move on with your own life. These departures are difficult. My departure was 16 years ago. I was offered a rerun in 2020 and turned it down. He wanted to “dump on mom.” I figured his therapist gets paid to listen to that. I don’t. Truly, I have my own life. Parenting was only PART of this life, not ALL of this life. ❤

No, silence is not key. Consequences are the key. Preferably physical consequences. Even people with psychiatric disorders understand negative reinforcement. If they can’t respect you, they don’t belong in your life. Unless of course you want to be in an abusive relationship forever.

My adult sons, ages 55 and 53 are so close to me and respect me. I am so sorry your children don't respect you. I raised my sons to respect all people especially their older adults. They were raise in church, knowing God and that they should respect others. There has never been a day since they were born that I have not prayed for them, some times many times a day. I believe that parents that don't know God and don't raise their children to believe and know God is one of the saddest things a parent don't do. The Bible says to, "raise up a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6. Usually a parent or both that have no relationship with God pass on their attitudes to their children.
@caroann

I’m glad your parent life has been so rewarding for you. Many of us have “raised a child in way he should go.” And it turned out badly. That scripture is a “probability” and not a “guarantee”. May the rest of your life be as rewarding as it has so far.

Does anyone else get when you say, the example, “please don’t talk to me like that way because it makes me feel devalued. All they say back is that’s how I feel. At this point he does this to everything and I say to him if I do these things why don’t you bring it up first. It is getting so invalidateing. It’s painful that he isn’t hearing that I feel devalued. Like throw away trash or he will simple say I don’t do that. He doesn’t address my feelings like I address his. The disrespect is immense and now can’t even communicate. He simply deflects it back to me

She accused us of trying to poison her (among many other false allegations) ) Please pray for her and our family . She’s convinced she has no need of help . When she first came to us she had been living in her car and agreed to get help as a condition of living w us. That didn’t last long though 😢 She was a person who graduated college w a degree, bought her own home at 26 and held several positions of responsibility before she quit her job , sold her home and disappeared for a year or so ! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hi Good evening Sally really amazing topic you have,which will help many Mother's they need that Support how to get through this trauma,yes I totally agree on that Silent is the key,depending on the circumstances,but still always making that communication,be very friendly Humble,and let 1 side complete there talk,and then after listening then say,is it now alright for me to talk,have you finished for whatever you wanted to say,but then yes the children's should behave themselves knowing the difference between Parent's,who's the Mother and who's the daughter and or son,so they should know who's incharge of the household so yes everthing should work out go smoothly 😊🕊🙂🙂🙂👍🤲

It's amazing how an abusive or absentee parent receives the love (since they lacked it from that parent and it seems to create a yearning for love and approval from the harmful parent, etc.), and turn away from the parent who was always there for them with love and respect. It's mind boggling....yes, and all the in between as every situation is so different. I personally was tired of being controlled with them using our grandkids as pawns since that's no way to live and terrible for our sweet grandchildren to witness and experience also.
