I tried a Samsung 990 PRO 2TB and tried moving 400gb onto it and it crashed my mac. Sending the SSD back and remembering to check the compatability list Terramaster recommends.... Hopefully my next ssd will work and its not the actual DAS that made my mac crash.

@ Conor in terms of data storage for content creation not for commercial purpose so my plan was vlogging and also photography as well so photos will be more, thou I have looked on my separate SSD over the years close to 2TB of photos that hasn't been edited yet I was thinking along the lines of a Das storage because of internet which I'm limited too. Please explain where you store the photos and videos on those drive just wanted to get an idea.

I store all my working projects on external thunderbolt drives and then move them over to my NAS after they are complete for backup

What’s the point of having a DAS? I don’t get it bc you can also buy a NAS with NVMe SSDs.

I use the DAS for all my current projects / stuff I’m working on… I find it to be a better experience over my NAS since I’m just a solo creator

its faster and is a direct connection. So you don't have to worry about connection issues or setting up the device. A DAS is pretty much plug and play which is really nice to have. A nas has to be connected directly to the router. Nas is also a lot more expensive. Nas is definitly more fun but can be a bit daunting for some people.
