I loved the video. When touching plants with pest wash your hands before touching another one just in case. Nice collection.

I realised this afterwards and ended up cleaning and treating all of the Alocasias just to be sure 👌🏼😊

Great collection! I have all of my alocasia in no drainage vases with a layer of fluval then my extra chunky pon/leca mix. They've been LOVING it.

I might try some of my back up Alocasias in leca. What’s the pon leca ratio that you use?
@carolinebaines87354 ай бұрын
I keep mine in no drainage in PON with a leca layer at the bottom so I can see the water level.

I’d love to get a new Azlanii, my first baby didn’t make it My Tundarusa (Jaklyn) went dormant when I switched her to semi hydro, I left her alone with a low water reservoir and she started popping up a bunch of leaves this spring!! I’m so grateful she’s one of my absolute favs Was having trouble keeping and sizing up leaves on my Cuprea (in a chunky soil and terracotta pot) until I added moss to the top of the soil, as soon as that moss is dry I water her, she’s popping out leaf and big leaf now! I’ve just picked one up without a tag that looks like a shorter Heterophylla, maybe a Bisna? Similar leaves, with the lobes and shoulders but shorter and a tiny bit wider
@myjunglestory3 ай бұрын
Ooo I’m also going to try that with the jacklyn, she hasn’t given me a new leaf in ages. Now that I’ve upsized her pot, I feel like it’s going to be even longer. Cuprea has always been such a drama queen for me 🫣 I’m not giving up though but I’m seriously contemplating of keeping her in a soil mix instead of semi hydro… Yes from what I’ve looked up that’s probably the Bisma variety 💚

I'm also a collector of alocasia. Why not pot up your doubles together to have fuller pots...it's what I did and I luv the look of fullness

I should do that, I’ve been doing that with the rest of my collection and it does look really good 😍

Yessss love when the algorithm drops me more alocasia friend! I own all of those, except Clypeolata, which was so funny because you were so like next 😂😂 I'm glad nebula has been easy for you. Mine has been a Lil... I doubled down and got a couple of varieties to see which is better!
@myjunglestory4 ай бұрын
The clypeolata actually dropped that last leaf, so she’s just a stump now 😂 the nebula has kind of stopped growing for me.. but I still have to repot her 🫣 which variety worked best for you?

I want to get another alocasia but no matter how diligent i am (like daily) I can still see at least one mite. Any suggestions or is it just the way it is? It was labeled a black stem. I get good growth so far. Not just the token 3 leaves.
@myjunglestory3 ай бұрын
What treatment have you used? Good growth is positive, she is obviously not letting the spider mites bother her.

I recently ordered a Alocasia Dragon Moon, received her as a plug and have had her 2 wks. I transferred her into fluval immediately and she was doing good but now, the 2 little leaves are drooping. This is number 2. I’m not sure if I should put her into Lechuza or let her be in the fluval. I’m afraid she is going to unalive
@myjunglestory5 ай бұрын
When we bought the dragon moon, we transferred her straight from soil to lechuza pon. She didn’t give us any grief but she was already a good size. She wasn’t a baby plant anymore. She also had a ton of corms but non of them survived 🫣
@myjunglestory5 ай бұрын
If your scared of losing her I would move her to spagnum moss and then once she has a decent root system move her to your chosen substrate 👍🏼

Hello Jacklyn from Puerto Rico!! First timer on your channel and just subscribed. I just started my English speaking channel and would appreciate your support. I also have several Alocasias. I also got my Mickey Mouse small but now has 3 leaves. You have a nice collection!! 🪴🪴🪴 All my Alocasias are also in Pon.

What pon mix or brand do you recommend?
@myjunglestory4 ай бұрын
I’m using the semi hydro coarse mix from soil ninja and I love it. Lechuza pon is also one I used for a while but I found there wasn’t enough aeration, so I would recommend one with bigger stones 💚

@@myjunglestory Ok. Im new to semi hydro. I just transferred all of my Alocasias into self watering pots. It’s difficult to water them to their liking. So, now they can water their damn selves 😂

11:00 what is dry rot ?
@myjunglestory3 ай бұрын
I don’t think it’s the right terminology but it’s what I call it when they completely dry out and then you water and the roots just turn to mush.

@@myjunglestory oh ok ! Thank you. Can you please advise me on watering my alocasia ? I just got an alocasia yucatan princess and I’m scared because I’ve learned that they are not the easiest plants…My room humidity ranges from 40% to 60%.
@myjunglestory3 ай бұрын
@@thanostsarbos1197 honestly that’s why all my alocasias are in semi hydro, I really struggled with over watering. Let the first few inches dry out before giving it water again, but never let them dry out completely. Yes I used to have a YP but it rotted away, I had it in a very dense soil mix. If yours is also in a very dense I would recommend repotting it and use a more airy soil mix.
@thanostsarbos11973 ай бұрын
@@myjunglestory If the soil is dense, does that mean less frequent watering ? edit: i think the soil she's in has a lot of peat moss (newbie to plants here...yes despite that I got an alocasia ^^' )
