An amazon driver sent a picture of my package left on the fender of a neighbor’s grain truck. This person had to cross a closed gate and walk about 200 feet past 3 farm buildings and decided it somehow made sense that it was the right place

I've had a few cases where some idiotic vendor sends something and marks that I have to sign for it. In those cases, I often (I'm retired and can be at home) waiting for the package and very alert to vehicles coming up the driveway. Several times the driver has marked, "unable to deliver because no one available" when I was there waiting at exactly the time indicated. I believe the same as Steve; they are short on time and just want to skip some deliveries.

my wife's caught them about to shove the slip in the letterbox without even trying to deliver, they saw her, did it anyway before she could reach him, jumped in their van and took off! She called got the "nothing we can do" but did not accept that, and kept pushing until they made him turn around and come back. we don't drive, paid $ for the delivery and it was a large item we could not just go pick up from the post office. I feel often these places have a blase attitude to the fact the delivery is a paid service and they need to provide it.

My story: I order some gym mats, and my neighbour ordered Nike shoes. Of course it was delivered to the wrong building and we could not get them. When we called Amazon, they said it was delivered and we needed proof that it was incorrect. After hours on the phone explaining that the picture are of a different door than ours; Amazon said to call the company of the product instead of them because it was a 3rd partner vendor for both the gym mats and shoes. After giving them VIDEO EVIDENCE that the delivery guy never came, they gave me the gym mat reordered(free), but no refund to my neighbour's shoes (a different vendor). IT was a pain in the ass to upload a whole day of security footage, and they only gave me a reorder(for free) but not my neighbour, which is stupid because I won my case and her delivery was apparently the same "delivery driver". Like what? I am guessing my vender was nicer than hers while Amazon did jack shit for both of us.

Hey Steve, one thing that really helps here is putting your house number on the house/garage/driveway itself rather than only being on the mailbox, and make sure it's visible. It eliminates any possible confusion over mailbox location. Some drivers used to be confused coming to our house since the mailboxes are only on one side of the street here, brass plate numbers solved it for us. The reason he put can't get into the building on the forum is just quick fill app issues, probably not an option for him to say "im confused about the delivery location so i'm just gonna bring it back to the warehouse and let someone else do it" I imagine they only get like 3-4 quickfill options....

i like this idea, however maybe Amazon needs to create some kind quick scanner thing that could be used by the driver via some tool like a phone looking for a QR code type of deal and just attach the damn thing to a mail box so when the driver gets to your block, all they need to do is get close enough and then start scanning boxes and the one with the QR code is the correct one. but then again that might require Amazon to send you some kind of QR code sticker thing in the mail with instructions for the customer to put these things on their box so that other drivers know where to go without much issue. it's just we live in the day and age of tech that most people don't have to do the address thing the old fashioned way anymore when they just follow the freaking GPS thing, but to a point, then use some other tech to pinpoint the location. although this i admit is just for house locations and not so much for a apartment building location.

I used to be an Amazon Flex Driver. The navigation app wasn't very good and didn't always put deliveries in the most efficient order. There were a couple of times Amazon claimed deliveries were late even though I completed the block in time. The driver should have taken your filters to your porch; it wouldn't have taken long. I bet he chose that response to avoid getting dinged for not completing your delivery.
@5226-p1e
@5226-p1e 11 ай бұрын
i suppose that's possible, but the tech not being good is part of the blame here, they need to continue to fix that stupid app or come up with other ideas like mailing QR codes for customer's to place on their mailbox so all a delivery dude has to do is get close enough then scan people's mail box and then they will know for sure which house is the correct one. something simple like this might help, and Amazon can afford to make these QR code stickers to their customer's and so long as the customers puts this sticker on their mailbox, it could be scanned to pinpoint the location for the driver to know it's the right address. like we live in this day and age where shit like this shouldn't be so trivial, like the address thing has been dumbed down to GPS to the point it's like a driving simulator video game, maybe because it's not always accurate, maybe it just needs a few more steps to make it all work well.

Sometimes they will let you know how far away they are . I once saw the text and thought, okay, I’ll go sit on the porch and wait for the driver. When he shows up , I’ll walk out to meet him and save him some time. Driver shows up, stops and I start walking toward the van. The driver pulls away without getting out and leaving my package even though I was standing right beside the van. I get a message a few minutes later. Unable to deliver your package , unable to locate address. My house has the number clearly marked and the mailbox has the number and my name on it. Amazon sent me a message. Would I like a refund or reorder. So I reordered. Next day , driver shows up and puts my package in the chair on the front porch. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Checking security cams showed no deliveries. Sometime the next day an Amazon van would pull up and deliver the package. All I can figure is that the delivery driver just marked it as delivered because they were behind on their quota.

My only complaint for Amazon is that in all the time I've used them, I could never rely on their deliverers to read the delivery instructions. When I lived in an apartment complex, frequently items would be delivered to the leasing office and the people in the leasing office would be unable to find them when I went to collect them. So I put in the instructions: "DO NOT deliver to the leasing office! Deliver to my apartment." It was about 50/50 whether or not they would. And I mean it happened so much with the office losing packages that I was convinced someone there was just stealing them. But then, out of nowhere, an item that I had ordered, which the leasing office had lost and I had to have replaced, over a YEAR prior turned up when I went to collect a different package. So maybe they really were just that incompetent. But that's more about the staff at the leasing office than Amazon. Amazon's usually given me pretty good service.

I was looking through the All Sorts sellers and checking the reviews. Every seller had complaints of people getting hard, stale licorice. It came to me. Amazon is not rotating their stock. They send out from the top of the pile and when they replenish that pile, it does on top. The bottom doesn't get used until it is stale.

I had one Amazon package that was reported delivered to my address -- in a zip code in a town to the north of my town, which town does NOT have a street of that name. The package never showed up. The worst part about Amazon is that when (not "if") something goes wrong, they make it impossible to contact a human being. I'm certain their corporate policy is to make it as difficult as possible to contact customer service in the hope you'll just go away.

I have one even better ... my wife and I order wine by the case. It has to be signed for by UPS rules (over 21). Our regular delivery driver is someone we know well, and he is familiar with our "hobby". A case of wine weighs a bit, yes. Well... one day we were sitting at home in our living room when my wife got a notification and looked at me and said "UPS just said they attempted delivery and that we were not home". I checked the door ... yep. There was a slip on the door. WTF? Called UPS... reported it ... when the wine was finally delivered, our regular driver told us that on the day it was supposed to be delivered, he wasn't working, so it went to a guy who usually does the industrial area deliveries and not residential, and he doesn't like doing residential. So his solution? Walk up to the door, place a sticker, say you attempted delivery and no one was home. Amazing. Basically the guy is a lazy POS and should be fired for not doing his job. Or reprimanded for lying. Months and months later we were waiting on wine again ... and I heard the truck pull up and the door open ... I walked out of the front door and along the front walkway ... the driver was the industrial guy, already halfway up our driveway, with a sticker in his hand. I said "you're not going to pull that shit this time" ... he looked at me and acted surprised, saying "oh! you're home!" ... I said, "yeah, and I was home last time, and the doorbell works". He went back to his truck and got the box of wine, acting like it was sooooooo hard.

Please, please, please, everyone make sure your house number is colors that contrast where it is mounted, large, not stylized or letters. Not obscured by vegetation or holiday decorations. Basically can be easily read while driving by at the speed limit. That said, yes there are some careless delivery drivers (usually small, private companies) that pay per package, so little incentive to search around when instructions or directions given by delivery apps they use are inaccurate. It's a tough gig being a 'Porch Santa' (opposite of pirate). They will love you and bend over backwards for you if you leave out snacks and drinks/water them. By no means expected, but gratefully accepted by essential workers who rarely have a chance to stop for meals. Better luck on receiving your orders!

Funny you should mention them telling you to wait 2-3 days in the hopes the person who got it will bring it to you, as I actually did that. I came home from work one day to a rather large box in my kitchen just inside the door. As soon as I saw it I looked over to my children in the living room and asked "What did your mother order now?" as we have packages show up daily for the most part, but this box was quite a bit larger than the usual fare. My kids told me it was a bed frame and that my wife hadn't ordered it it, it was addressed to a completely different address, the street name wasn't the same, the house number wasn't the same, just the town and zip code, but appearantly the driver decided they wanted to be rid of it. I thought that it would be quite a shame if the person waiting for it was in need of it, not to mention the headache of getting another shipped out, plus the last thing I need in my house is more stuff. So I looked up the address on the box and saw it was all of a few minutes away from me. Just down the main road I live on and in a recent development. I decided that since I have a box truck (I'm a road mechanic, so I have my toolbox and shevles in there, more than enough to fit the box) that I would load it up and bring it to the person, as I know I'd be frustrated in this situation, so I figured I could make someones day a bit better and that for the few minutes it would take me that would definitely be worth it. After driving to the persons house I walk up and knock on their door. The husband comes to the door and I ask him if he's the person on the order and if he ordered a bed frame recently from Amazon that he was expecting. Cue the most confused look in the world! I explained to him what happened and that the box showed up at my house for some reason and that I lived just down the road so I decided to bring it to him. My guess is doing this for someone else would have never crossed his mind, because he still looked quite confused about why I did it, though still a little grateful, but I still feel better having tried to make a few peoples lives just a little better / a little less difficult. So, it has happened at least once. Hopefully I didn't screw everyone else over by giving Amazon false hope from that one time, but I thought you'd at least find my story amusing. 😁

Back when Amazon just used other carriers, no problem. When they started doing their own deliveries... they got _creative_ with object placement. Places I've found packages (sometimes a day or two after they were delivered): Behind a vine covered trellis against a wall on my from porch (miracle I ever saw that one), in the back of my pickup that was loaded with cardboard to take to recycling (lucky I noticed one of the boxes wasn't broken down and got curious), on the engine block of a vehicle in the driveway with the hood open, behind a flowerpot against a fence.... Knowing that my property is completely surrounded by a 6 foot fence with a locked gate, I called my neighbor and asked them to quickly go to my gate and see if they see a package. Sure enough, they TIED IT TO THE GATE LATCH. Anyone could have driven by and snatched that package. As it was, it was a 100 dollar Ridge wallet. The second instance was my parents had me order them something. I showed as delivered. They said it's not here. We called and they told us to "look around for it." Ok, it's NOT here. The apartment was on top of a restaurant and the access to the Appartements was at the back of the building. His excuse was the drive way was an alley and he could get attacked. I would complain to the supervisors at the distribution center. They would say knew the building and it wouldn’t be a problem and promised to talk to the mailman. Nothing would change eventually I started to complain to the next level up and when I told them about my conversation with the supervisor the person on the other end of the phone with no knowledge of the area or my building. Many times I would know the delivery was close and wait at my door only to see the driver walk past 216 on the right, 215 on the left, then reach 218 on the right and stand there confused as I stood 20 feet forward on the left at the door of 217, until I finally spoke up and told them I thought the food was for me. I just received two Amazon packages addressed to a home about a mile away. No similarity in street names. I also love when they leave packages propped against the overhead garage doors, so when you get in your car, open the door, and back out, you run over the package. This is particularly ridiculous because we have a second driveway that runs along the front of our house. It would be easier to drive down that drive, stop ten feet from the front door, drop the package, and continue forward down the drive, back to the street.

Delivery driver here. Make sure your house numbers are very clearly visible (not just to you but to other people who don't know where the numbers are placed); if your HOA allows it, paint the house number on your curb in front of your house and make sure it remains clear and visible. You shouldn't have a lot of problems after that...If I am unsure of an address, one or both of those things would solve that issue

My address is 8068 street name the house on the corner a half mile from me is 8086. I can explain the "urgency" you describe in the video. (ex amazon employee) What amazon figured out really early on, was having two different systems for high priority delivery, and low priority was actually harder than just treating everything as high priority. So this is why even if you are ordering idk.... furnace filters, they will still get them to you with a sense of urgency.

It takes an extra day or two to get the same stuff when I ordered from a vacation home in rural Vermont. I usually can’t get the stuff I order from Amazon locally, All the local stores even Home Depot and Best Buy want me to order through them and wait longer. I ordered a basic HP printer from BestBuy because their web page said they had . They emailed me “sorry we can get it for you next week”. I ordered it from Amazon, they had it to me in rural Vermont in 3 days. I was in retail thirty or forty years ago, “if you ain’t got it you can’t sell it” generally speaking.

Their response was to sign up for their delivery service in which I could specify where to leave said package. I responded with I’m not signing up for a service that is not needed as it’s literally steps from the garage door to my actual front door. That was a premiere service that is a pay service. No more than I have delivered,it would not be cost effective.Every time the delivery person stated they had left it at the “ front door or porch” . The last time was when I ordered my iPhone and it was left at the garage door, I got ahold of customer service and asked point blank, who’s fault is it going to be if my order id delivered to this door and is backed over by someone backing out of said garage. I did not get an answer but since then, no packages have been left at that location.

I order from Amazon quite a bit, and their delivery is usually everything it's supposed to be. I don't see as many gig drivers as I saw 1-2 years ago; their "zero emissions" delivery vans are far more populous. About a year ago I received a delivery notice for something I was anxious to get, and opened the package as quickly as possible, only to see it wasn't anything I had ordered. Then I did what I should have done first: looked at the label. I had just opened my next-door neighbor's package (hey, at lease we're both on the same side of the street). I quickly dashed off an apology note, taped on the box and taped the box shut, and hoofed it over to my neighbor's porch. Guess what was sitting there? Yes, my package. A simple mistake, easily remedied. I reported the error to Amazon('s computer), and left it at that.

Not an Amazon story, but I had numerous problems with one of the major delivery companies. They would frequently deliver my packages to a house down the street. It got to the point where I wouldn't order from places that used them if I could avoid doing so. Finally, I had a situation where my package was reported delivered, but there was no package. I immediately called to report incorrect delivery. Just after hanging up, the delivery shows up. The driver had reported it delivered before actually delivering. In the past, I had noted that he was always super-stressed, and I finally realized what was going on. My house was at the end of the run, and he was on the clock. He was doing whatever he could do to finish on time.

My wife told me once that she was just walking out the door when an Amazon delivery person was dropping off a package. Of course the package was not for us but for someone else within the same apartment complex in a different building. The Amazon driver insisted that because the "pin" (on the app on their phone) showed that the package need to be delivered to our place, that was where they would need to leave it, even though the address did not match what was on the package. After my wife still insisted that the package was not for us, the delivery person finally said "fine" and took the package and left. Hopefully to actually deliver it to the correct address. More than once, we have to go on a hunting spree to find the packages that we did order as they are also delivered to some other random building in our apartment complex. We almost never have any issue with Fed Ex or UPS though.

4:25 This is one of my fave little random facts that makes it soooooo much easier for me to get to somewhere ive nvr been, even sans a map to go off of And you only shared of what makes this fact so good for navigation; the sides they pick for evens and odds is roughly based on the four cardinal directions. That is, generally spkin, at least in USA, an even number house is on either the north or west side of a road (or at least more NW than SE) This makes it so if you are travelin along a road, and can at least figure out if it goes east/west or north/south (say by the street name or the suns location in the sky or just knowin otherwise); then you can always know which direction is which even if you dont have anythin else to act as a compass Obvs the layouts of roads can be wonky and this wont always hold true, but if youre in a grid pattern of a city; you can at least guesstimate the four cardinal directions with relative ease, even sans stars or compass or sun

During the pandemic heyday, we had lots of deliveries from Amazon via private vehicles--especially from Amazon "Fresh" (their grocery delivery service); no issues (weird...some of those Amazon gig workers were driving BMWs and Lexus?!). I would like to support local bookshops more, but I can't find any good ones in the last 18 years or so. Just these low-grade chain stores like Bookman's that only cover the most common types of books. Little more than romance novels and some popular novels. I go for hard/old scifi, ropes/knots/nautical, bushcraft/camping and sometimes unix/linux/programming books. Not mainstream. I have about a 1/20 chance of landing a classically good knotting or seamanship book at a GOOD used book store. I have a 0/100 chance of finding the same at the chain stores because the whole "outdoors" section is maybe half of a shelf. But I can get a number of good knotting books from the pioneers in knotting or some of the new authorities (Ashley, Budworth, Pawson, Toss, ...) from Amazon at any time. The local merchants have abandoned me. Once your interests are outside of the center of the bell curve, local stores typically fail to deliver. I had some good luck about 20 years ago when I lived in SMALL-ish towns (North Kansas City, Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Moscow/Pullman, Boise). High quality used book stores with some classic old nautical knot books that I hadn't seen before and even a good river rafting outfitter store with excellent quality rope at a good price from the remnants of their outfitting jobs. I got a good Swedish bushcrafting knife from a dinky hardware store in the very depleted North Kansas City. But now the merchants play it safe and only carry the most ordinary, medium-low quality items. Like they are afraid the good stuff is only a niche market. With me it is more like "no good stuff" equals no market.

I have had all the problems you stated with Amazon and all the others, except USPS. FedEx Ground/Home also contracts out their package deliveries, but I have more trouble with UPS couriers than all the others put together. And yes, all the drivers are on a tight schedule, but many times UPS drives just say they couldn't deliver, so they leave my package at Advance Auto parts which is one of their contracted pick-up locations. BTW, in the US, with a few (very few) exceptions, the even numbered addresses are on the North and East side of the road, and the odd numbers are on the South and the West side of the road. Also, Normally, Avenues run East and West, and streets run North and South.

I did finally get my package but I believe it was the next day from when I received the messages and it was just a knock on the door and left on the porch. I also have security cameras but at around the time of the supposed attempted delivery, I did see an Amazon van within 15 minutes go by my house on the street but it did not even slow down. I saw no other traffic besides regular neighbor activity. Every three months the route went up for bid and some new guy would be looking for the place in the dark. I made oodles of OT babysitting these guysNow USPS drivers have their own issues, there is this element of urgency that means often they DONT read the address, they have the items in an order that they set up at the office and if they are rushing there your 1234 on A street can get plunked in order with another 1234 all the way across town. That’s all they look for is the number. The older drivers had a consistent route and no excuses, the subs though, they were everywhere in town and their holy grail was delivery. Close enough seemed to be good enough.

Our apartment has an Amazon Hub Locker, thankfully -- but sometimes other carriers won't use it, even though they're authorized (lookin' at you, FedEx and UPS)

My worst delivery story was for food. I got a notice it was delivered with a picture. The picture clearly showed the house address, and it was about three houses away from mine. I finally got the driver to circle back and try again. He ended up three houses in the other direction from mine. Dyslexic or just utterly stupid? All the maps know where my house is. I had to tell him the color so he could find it. I don't think I've ever had an Amazon delivery problem. At least, not that it went to the wrong place.

I've been working in a tax office that is open 2 days/week over the summer. UPS and FedEx seem to understand what is on our hours sign and will reattempt delivery when it says we are open. But I've had the Amazon Prime delivery people try to deliver on Monday and then reattempt delivery on the next day we were closed.

First of all. We are Delivery Associates, who work under and are employed by Delivery Service Providers. Which are 3rd party companies that work under and wirh amazon. We dont work directly for Amazon, only under Amazon. We drive the amazon branded vans,box trucks, etc. We are timed for every single stop we have. We have an average of 180 stops or less, which we must complete by the 10hrs we work. Each stop can a grouped stop. A grouped stop can be 1 apartment building with 10-15 apartments and it counts as 1 stop. We have well over 300 packages in our vans. We are expected to average 20+ stops an hour. A lot of us dont even have time to go to the bathroom, let alone breathe. It isn't a job for everyone, its an incredibly physical active job of solitude. The reason we work at 3rd party compaies under amazon is because amazon doesnt want the liability. Lets say a dog bites me or someone thinks i am trespassing on their property, even wearing my uniform and blue vest. We can get shot or severely injured. All the while Amazon can just say its the 3rd party compaies fault and it didn't happen
