Yk Saku, your vids inspired me to work my butt off and eventually got accepted to my dream Uni as well! If I were to tell myself a year ago that I would actually be animating now, I wouldn’t believe it! Now im able to incorporate my little doodles a little bit in my music!:) so I just wanna thank you again for being that catalyst dude

12:08 I genuinely geared up watching this part. I’ve been so detached from art lately and just avoiding thinking about the future worrying if I should just give up on art and do something considered more stable but I haven’t actually given myself the room to think about what I really want to do…I can’t thank you enough for always reminding me how amazing art really is! It’s been 3 years now since I stumbled upon you and I’ve grown so much since then, not just with art but as a person. To me you’re just the most inspiring creator out there and I hope you have a wonderful rest of 2023!

seeing how far youve come and watching your videos every time is so inspiring, i wanna be an animator too one day and this is really motivating for me 😭✨ ive been going through a lot of changes in my life recently and one giant art block, and sometimes i get out of touch a lot and doubt myself and my passion for art/animation, but i think in a way your videos help remind me why i love it and are passionate about it and to keep pursuing this :))

This video is awesome! I actually will be going to a Highschool (and ninth grade) where they offer animation (fingers crossed I get accepted!) I have to say thank you, for being one of the many people who inspired me to accomplish this dream! I've loved drawing since I was young and I'm hoping I could actually do animation. Thank you!

AUGH i’ve literally always wanted to animate/draw for a career, but my chinese mother always said if i was gonna do tech, i had to be a graphic designer-WHICH IS NOT WHAT I WANT GODDAMMIT- ive looked around to try and find colleges/universities that i could use to show her that i had a chance, but oh no. Calarts? No, no no. No art school for you, little miss. I still want to figure out how to show her that i CAN live with art. i completely understand why she doesnt want me to, but still. when i was younger, i said i wanted to be an artist, but i was pat on the back and told it was just…a fever dream, i guess. i got into anime and manga in 2020, and before that i was obsessed with animatics on youtube and i wanted to be one of the big amazing artists that could tell a whole story with just their art. i still wanna draw, draw draw and go to an art school, but hah i guess im scared, but AUGH watching you is making me want to try harder, to at least try for an art school. TL;DR, keep it up-you’re literally amazing and you’re so inspirational!

Thank you so much for talking about calarts es! I never knew about it until this video. Would you potentially be able to show us the drawings/paintings you submitted to be accepted into the animation inteisive? I want to try to do it this year :)

Hi! Since I did the program quite a while ago I don't really remember what exactly I submitted -- but as long as you follow the guidelines and requirements it should be fine! I think at the basis, they just want to see if you're passionate animation and drawing! No matter what your skill level is at, as long as you show those things I think you'll be ok :-)

Hii I love your videos so much, they’re so inspiring and helpful! Do you think CalArts extended study portfolio workshops would help with applying to a school like SCAD? Also, do you think freshman-sophomore year is too early to take them, or would it still be helpful?

oh!! I actually applied to SCAD, and I think I talked about it in my general art school portfolio video :O I think that the workshops are tremendously useful no matter which school you apply to, because it just helped me get better technically in general! I started taking this courses when I was 15, so I don't think there's ever a too early! Just do what you wish! ✨
