My anime collection (part 2)

I recommend getting the Madoka magica 10th anniversary movie trilogy. The set (from aniplex) is 2 recap movies of the series and the movie rebellion. In Japan this set cost $1,500 in the past. You can now get the US version for $60. It's a steal.

still kinda "new" to the whole anime/manga stuff, i've been real stoked on Berserk for a few years now (due primarily to the inspiration it has had on the souls games) but never really moved on to watch or read anything else. That being said, these videos have been SUPER helpful for me in learning about some other shit i'd be into. keep it up big dawg, really digging your content.

I am with you 100% on dragonballz. I need to hear it dubbed with the faulkner music. but that being said, it is my favortie show and my favorite thing to collect so I must've bought it 5 times at least haha. love this btw. I didn't even know the last eva movie came out so thanks for that.

That music completely changes the tone of the show, and I just can't imagine DBZ without hearing that music. And yeah, I really need to buy an upgraded version. Do you happen to know if any of the more recent releases contain the Faulkner music as well? And yes, the last Eva movie is now streaming only on Amazon prime, and the previous Rebuild movies are on there too, but they Re-dubbed them AGAIN lol. Hope you enjoy the movie! @@ChipDamageMike both the regular Blu ray and steelbook Blu ray releases of dbz have the Faulkner score. So it really depends on your preference. The steelbook has a 4:3 aspect ratio (still cropped a little) and the Blu ray season sets are widescreen. I think both are fine.

@@ChipDamageMike the season sets of the bluray are just the orange bricks widescreen aspect ratio. With higher rez. The 30th anniversary and steelbooks are the season sets in 4:3. Really it comes down how you want it to look. Blurays look like water colors. And the dvd sets have the gritty blurry look. It's your preference. Really no good way to own dbz :/. I think the best way to get the dvd set or the season set blurays in widescreen. And change the setting on your TV so the picture is in 4:3. That is what i do. You save a bit of money. The steelbooks cost like $450

The orange brick dvds have original English episode title cards. "Bojack" title cards I believe. It is the closest and complete thing to what we saw on American tv.

You should try and see if you can get Daft Punks Interstellar 5555 animated by Liji Matsumoto. They used to show this anime film on Toonami on New Years eve. I was luck enough to get the dvd for 15 bucks back in the day. Now I see it going for 70 dollars on Amazon..

I hope that the Rebuild movies are re-released in one massive box set that includes both English dubs. I bought the first Orange Box set when it was released and thought that I wouldn't mind the cropped image, but I ended up minding it very much. I'm set with the Kai blu rays because I can at least see Goku's full set of hair lol. I remember there being comparison shots that the Dragon Ball DVD's were cropped, but I don't think it was as dramatic as the orange bricks. As for The Simpsons on Disney+, yes it looked disgusting cropped, but fortunately they have an option now where you can watch the older seasons in 4:3 again.

O yes, I was so happy when Disney + added that ability, like, how can anyone watch the Simpsons that way? LOL i guess I'm being a hypocrite because I don't mind the cropping in DBZ, because I need that music. And yes, I hope they're a new set for the Rebuilds one day, we can only hope. Another great vid! I don't hate GT but I get where your coming from lol, as far as Full Metal goes I was told that for a beginner it's better just to begin with brotherhood, but if brotherhood assumes you had knowledge of the OG series then I guess I should watch them both. As far as Neon Genesis goes I want to watch it but I hear it ends like shit, spoiler free is it wort watching despite that? What is your preferred original ending. I hear the End of Evangelion is a better series end, but again I have no clue what the story entails, just the opinions on the series endings. I saw a spoiler free comparison of the dubs and I thought the Netflix dub sounded better than the Gainax or ADV dub, but I would have to see the show more for me to decide how I feel about one of the dubs. Either way, I will also check out the new film series. I also recently saw, finished, and adored Kill La Kill based on yours and everyone's else's recommendations. It was a fantastic intro to Gainax or Studio Trigger for me.

Firstly, thanks for watching and commenting, and o boy, let me do my best to try to answer your questions lol For Fullmetal, both are great series in their own right, but if you only have time for one, definetly watch Brotherhood. Some of the early parts are breezed through though and skimmed. You won't necessarily be lost or miss any vital information, but some major moments in the first half of the story are definetly given more focus and weight in the original show. That being said, Brotherhood is clearly (too me) the stronger show overall. Keep in my mind that once you watch Brotherhood, I can't imagine it's going to be easy to ever watch the original, since it's something of a step down. TLDR version; if you have the time, watch both, if not, DEFINITELY go with Brotherhood. As far as EVA, watch ever dub sounds most pleasant to you, at the end of the day, they tell the same story. Yes I recommend watching the series, go in knowing that it's very slow paced with many intentionally unexplained concepts, and is more about character development, but it definetly has some of the coolest robot and monster designs in anime. As far as the ending, and I'll keep this spoiler free, the last two episodes of series are not truly an ending, the film "End of Evangelion" is, it's hard to pin down without over explaining, but the general concept is that the series finale is what is happening in the thoughts/mind of the main character, and the film show what is actually happening in the physical world. LOL I hope that makes sense. As far the quality of the ending movie itself, it's visually spectacular, conceptually very dark in tone, and hard to discern, but there really isn't anything else like it. It's literally the director's Anno depression and backlash against society/toxic fans of the time put onto paper. I would watch just because it is so influential on anime as a whole, and I hope you enjoy it. And if you decided to watch the Rebuild films (which I STRONGLY suggest) you will get SO MUCH MORE out of them if you watch the entire original series. Eva's a wild journey that made Gainax a top studio and remains to this day one of the most famous and influential anime, it's not for everyone, but I hope you enjoy it if you decide to watch! Lastly I am SO happy you enjoyed KIll La KIll, it's one of my favorite series, and I'm honored if I helped you make the decision to watch it! Thanks again !

But yeah will definitely check out the original eva first, fuck man it sounds Hideaki got it bad but any that can turn negative thoughts into art deserves praise. Yeah Full Metal has two full on series that make me curious, since the reception both have gotten us greats As far as Kill La Kill is concerned it was truthfully a masterpiece. Fun entertaining and believe it or not some themes of conformity and control which surprised me when watching. Also, Mako is hilarious, that english dub is great, and the soundtrack is fucking killer!
