You can find ones that have the same internal sharpening mechanism as the 1921 sharpener. I got one a few years back by X-acto that was essentially the same as the much older Boston one my parents have. The particular model I and my parents have has a large rectangular suction cup on the bottom that works exceptionally well.

Yes there's almost no place in current school for pencils anymore. Certainly even less in adult daily lives and many people prefer mechanical pencils. But I love old fashioned pencils and the smell of a sharpener and that razor point so much that I buy pencils and I own an electric sharpener anyway just so I can sharpen them and find an excuse to write on something. An electric sharpener is not nearly as satisfying but I don't see any old fashioned ones up for sale. It looks like many of the ones in public schools when I was a kid or left over from 1921 model where they had the horizontal bars with spiral grooves they want to use anymore but they were still bolted to the wall near the classroom door. All us ADHD kids founded such a relief to have to go to the pencil sharpener. It got us out of our chairs but also because our pencils were dull because we also pressed harder on the paper!

@@vishnuniji5393you can smell the slight wood shaving smell and you're smelling the metal of the oil gears grinding and even the lead itself seems to have a slight mineral smell.
