The bigger bulk are members of the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Antiochian Orthodox Church, the Melkite Catholic Church, the Maronite Catholic Church, and the Assyrian Church of the East. The Roman Catholic Church has a very small presence and majority Catholics belong to one of the Eastern Churches I have mentioned earlier. The sad reality is that the persecution by the islamists are driving this ancient Christian Community out of their rightful place in the same way the Turks have displaces the Byzantine Church (now the Greek Orthodox Church) in Constantinople (Turkey). In fact, their leader Erdogan has even the shamelessness to take-over the Hagia Sofia Church (Church of the Holy Wisdom) into a mosque - that rightfully belong to the Patriarchate of Constantinople - that is now being "dhimmified" in Turkey.
