Thin Blue Line. Absolutely brilliant comedy, especially the first series as Kray as Grim's offsider was superb. He went on to greater things and was replaced in Series Two. I thought all the characters were superb, but Fowler, Grim, Kray and of course PC Goody were standouts. And poor Pat, Fowler's girlfriend. Brilliant all.

Can see the Dad’s Army connection. Except this in peace time. Patriotic but not always competent leader (Mainwaring>Fowler). Internal civil war (Mainwaring to Hodges> Fowler to Grim). “Stupid boy” (Pike> Goody). Old-timer whose tales go off-topic (Jones>Gladstone). Dawkins has a similarity to Mrs Pike with her romantic notions. Although by the 90s, wasn’t frowned upon for unmarried couples to live together.

King Arthur being Anglo-Saxon? Nope. Welsh, yes. Anglo-Norman and French, yes. I know a lot about Arthurian lore, extends back to Roman-Britons, borrowed or stole a lot from Early Irish literature, and the French came up with everything the English put in later works.
