Y’all are so negative. People try out for drill team to become better at dancing. Not just that but build friendships and character. Those new girls that just tried out will be able to do those multiple pirouettes and more if you actually give them a chance. They look for potential and this probably is not the only dance they learned. This is just jazz. They probably learned a kick, Pom, and possibly an across the floor combo. Stop replying saying this was crap. Not everyone is able to start dancing at 3 years old and every school is different depending on what type of students are in the area and the level of competition between those. I cannot believe these comments right now.

I'm jealous that ya'll even have a HS dance team. But, what I don't like is that why do you have an open audition? It should have been closed. I feel like more girls do better at closed auditions than open because than that way you know that , its not just a favoritism thing going on. All the girls got chosen fairly. Not be the one who had the most shouts and name calls!

Wow my schools team is way more competitive. You have to be as good as the dance moms girls to be on the team. I can do triple pirouettes, a la secondes, a capizio, double chennees and piques, yet im at level 3 out of 5 in my school. like you have to be crazy good.

I'm so jealous of her team. That's how I think most high school dance teams should. They should do things cute and on the easier side. I was on my dance team my senior year and my teacher did things that were too stylistic. You all did well. :)

However, the other two girls in the gray kind of looked a bit lost. But I hope they made it too. I'm sure with time they will be just as good as you! Loved the energy!

That's grate! lol my toe touches suck to. That's sad for as long as I have been dancing. I plan on starting an All Star dance team this year no later than May. If not May, than defiantly next year.I wish my former HS had a dance team but they only cared about Cheerleading. Which I have nothing against obviously , but it would have been nice to see something different and new. Poms, kick, dance teams period within HS or on the All Star level are extremely unpopular here. All the dance teams that we have here in NC on the All Star level or in school are like an hour away from me. It would have been nice to have the oppurutinty to try out for an school dance team and compete ! Which is why I'm starting an Dance team but at the All Star level so other young girls can have the opportunity that I didn't have growing up.

Congrats on making the team! You did good for your first open auditions. Just make sure for future references to tuck your pelvis under to make you toe touch and Russian higher. The flexibility is good as well don't forget to point you feet and smile when you get to contest season. (And if your wondering why I know this, I'm an officer at my drill team in Texas.

Mom told me yesterday a study showed a basketball team practicing perfect shots in the hoop. Half of the team sat down on the bleachers and thought about how to do a perfect shot while the others kept practicing. When everybody was making shots, the half that was sitting aside and thinking about the perfect shot did better. If you just relax and really think about the critiques your teachers give you instead of constantly practicing and then almost wiping out because you get tired, you will make those corrections a lot better.

Yes to did well you were just a little fast on one part and your when you split your left foot sickled a little.However in kickiline your high splits were great.next timw just try to make your split in the air higher

In my comp team, the requirements are Be able to do a Grande jeté Be able to dance on pointe Be able to at least 5 connected a la secondes with good technique and a spotted head Be able to do a round off back hand spring and an aerial Be able to over split on a chair. And lastly, make sure you are having fun while dancing That’s basically it, it takes practice and time to get into a weekly competition Team

Studio team or school team because my school doesn't do a lot of tumbling except some girls can do aerials and we don't even think about over splits. Man, they probably want you to be like the dance moms girls. Keep practicing everyday and also just relax when you're tired and think about all the critiques your teachers give you.

My school dance team is very competitive and elegant. They perform at football games in beautiful sequins, pep rallies, parades, and UDA competitions, and they once went to nationals in disney world a few months ago. If you're still dancing in college, have a fun year with what your team does and never stop chasing your dreams.

Tbh my highschool the girls and boy dancers are really competitive like you have to be dance moms good so my school can send you into a competition. My dance teacher would say they dance like elementary students. I'm so glad I am going to this highschool because one of the classes are dance like as if it were science or subjects like that. and my school is all about the arts like visual arts, vocal arts, dance, etc..

First of all, congrats on making the team!! It takes a lot of practice and you soon become your own worse critic. I'm sure you were nervous, period because, it's auditions, and there's your first audience. Weird that you had open auditions though... my auditions were closed. Some pointers that I recommend are: ALWAYS smile unless you're doing a dance that wouldn't really call for it (like a hip hop dance for example), whenever your foot comes off of the ground, make sure it's pointed, ESPECIALLY while kicking, make your kicks high and show your flexibility, and keep working on stretching to make yourself more flexible so when you go to do a toe-touch, your back is straight, and you're still able to touch or toes (or come as close as you can). just a quick tip, you seem very plain you all aren't really using your facial expression, when you reach out with your arm don't just reach it out move your head and have a expression on your face ! I am a dancer I have been dancing for 9 years and I've made it into big ballet companies ( just saying so you don't think I'm a freak ) otherwise your dance was great kits if energy

I dont know what state you're from but check out my dance videos! We have to be pretty good to make a varsity team in Minnesota! Look up some teams such as Eastview, Wayzata, Maple Grove, Totino-Grace, or Benilde for some great jazz teams! Or Eastview, Wayzata, Sartell, St. Cloud Cathedral, Faribault or Totino-Grace for some great Kick teams!
