The weight of boats can vary greatly from the manufacturer's stated weight. The composite layup schedule variance can easily change the weight from 100 to 1000 pounds. If the boat is a blue water boat it may have a watermark installed. Depending on how they intend to use the boat will determine the size of standing rigging being used. In mast or in boom furling can add hundreds of lbs and depending on how many head sails the boat is set up will add to the weight. There are so many things that can add up to a few thousand extra pounds.

Atleast you got a cool scale guy. The one in Hamilton Ohio that got me over on trailer axles came out and cussed me out for not stopping on the scale when he told me to. Because he was to lazy to do his beginning of the day inspection on his coop and his speakers weren't working. As soon as I walked in after I parked his first words were you're getting a ticket.
