The Truth About Stacey was the first BSC book I read. I remember reading it and asking my mom if that's what chestnut hair looks like and she said no

I loved this series so much! But I cannot remember hardly anything about them now - listening to you talk about them gave me some sparks of remembering though. You have inspired me to badger my mum to give me my old copies back if she stills has them!

Haha, I'd love to hear about your collection if you do get them back! :)

Love your video! I have 83 of the original series, 24 mysteries, 2 super mysteries, 7 super specials, 4 portraits, all 3 special editions, 14 little sitters, and the baby sitters guide book! Thank you for sharing your collection. I’m curious if you have an updated collection video ❤

Oh you have so many! I haven't had many updates to my collection for a while but we're in the middle of moving and maybe once that's done and my new library is set up I could collect a few more :D

This was such a nostalgic video! I don't think I ever read too many of the books, but they were forever present in our house growing up. I was more a fan of Ann M. Martin's other books, like Ten Kids No Pets and Missing Since Monday. Her book Inside Out is also about autism. My parents also got divorced, and at the time it was a very unusual thing.

I still need to read more of Ann M. Martin's other books. There's an autistic character in the Main Street series by her as well. I believe she used to work with kids that had autism. Yeah, these days divorce seems pretty common but back in the 80s it seemed it was always a surprise to people. My parents got divorced when I was 3 though, so I don't really remember it being any other way and I was more bothered by people's reactions.
@thestorykeeper68184 жыл бұрын
@@paperback_cat I'm glad it wasn't too bad for you. I was 10, so ~2000, and I didn't meet anyone else with divorced parents for several years. (Though maybe there's a US vs NZ difference, too.)
@paperback_cat4 жыл бұрын
@@thestorykeeper6818 I would have expected it was more common around 2000. I guess it still varies depending on the area but I just found a graph that says there was a peak of divorces per existing marriages in NZ in 1982 and it's come down since then. Seems like the US peaked before that. I guess it's still relatively rare so the experience of being the only one hasn't changed too much. Maybe it just seems more common when you're older because you know more people. I still think it's a lot easier when you're younger so I"m glad my parents didn't try to hold it together for longer. 10 would have been harder, so I hope it wasn't too difficult for you.

I don't think I ever read The Baby Sitters Club books, but when I was around that age I was obsessed with Nancy Drew. I don't have a collection, unfortunately, but my babysitter at the time used to take us to the park every day, and the library was right next to the park, so every day or every couple of days I would go and get out another one. I don't think they would hold up nearly as well as it sounds like these do though!

Oh wow, I would have been in heaven if I'd had someone to take me to the library every few days when I was a kid. That's so cool. I've only read a couple of Nancy Drew but I'd love to read more. The ones I read were amongst the books and comics that I would find hidden around my Nana's farmhouse. But I think there were more Trixie Belden books than Nancy Drew ones.

Oh man, that's so funny! I only read a couple Trixie Belden, but they all came from my Grammy's basement xD

I loved the old photos! Has it already been a year since the vlog with the board game?!! I loved seeing your collection of BSC books. 36 mysteries?! I own everything that was translated in Dutch that I could find.. but I think only the first 12 mysteries were translated so that's what I own of those. And books 1 - 66 of the main series, more was not translated that I could find. I own a couple of super specials, I bought some of them on my Kindle in English as well. I have no super mysteries either, none were made in Dutch. I own both Logan's books. I read all of the ones I own. The Shannon one wasn't translated either, I hadn't heard of it nor the portrait books until I checked GoodReads at some point. Oh I love those stats!! I don't know Abby either. Oh yes Kristy and the Snobs is a great book! The Truth About Stacey and Mary-Anne Saves the Day were the first two I owned, I got the Dutch translations gifted for my 9th birthday. But because the books said 10-14 yrs on the back, I waited a while with reading them because I was younger than 10 😂 (I was 11 when I first read IT by Stephen King, so clearly I got over that fast lol). I like maths too lol. I'd love to read the books I haven't read, but they are impossible to find in paperbook here, since they weren't translated. So Kindle books are the only option, and I own some of the books after book 66 on my Kindle. I own book 67 in English as I did manage to buy that while in the UK ordering it off Ebay. I own books 68 - 84 I think on Kindle. I was re-reading the series a few years ago (to get to the ones I haven't read) but stopped at book 55. I also own all Super Specials and 3 Super Mysteries on Kindle, and have read some of the Super Specials that take place before book 55 ( books 1 - 7), some of which were new to me, so that was excellent. I really like The Ghost at Dawn's House. Mallory and the Trouble with Twins is such a great read too! Jessi's Secret Language, I liked that one a lot. Oh yes, Jessi's Baby-Sitter. That aunt! I didn't know anything about Abby so you know more than me haha. I loved Stacey's i's with hearts too! I don't think my Kindle edition of the Super Special with the Island has pictures in it. Those pictures look cool! I would love own to all the books in paperbook. Hmm let me calculate how many I own haha. There are some I have in both Dutch and English so I will ignore that, since that would not be fair. So.. 66+1 original books (+ 68-84 digital)+ the prequel (not sure if that one counts?) + 15 super specials (15 digital, 2 paperbooks), 2 logan specials, 12 mysteries, 3 super mysteries (digital), makes.. 84 paperbooks (excluding double language copies) and 34 digital books (118 total). I loved this video so much!!

I recently went back and looked at some old videos and some I was surprised were so long ago, and others I couldn't even remember making haha. Your collection sounds impressive! Especially given the limitation of getting translated books. That's a shame that so many were never translated. I sus That's funny that you didn't let yourself read them until you were 10 :P especially if you read IT so soon after lol. I think I started reading them when I was about 8ish. I have started rereading the series a few times but I always get distracted by all the other books I want to read. My sister has read the ones I have a few times as well I think. One day I really want to make a concerted effort to read the whole series! I'm glad you enjoyed this video :)
