Hey Matt, great video, so I’m using my iPhone for livestream on GC, i want to add the radar to the livestream, tried in two occasions and for what ever reason, they’re not talking to each other.
@corduroy736 ай бұрын
Thanks Daniel, I have never tried it with GC. I do know that the person scoring has to approve each pitch velo as it comes in which seems like a pain. Have you looked at this article? teammanager.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/6300365275789-Pocket-Radar-Integration

So there’s really no way it picks it up automatic without manually inputting it at every pitch? Yeah definitely sounds like a pain.

Matt, this is really helpful. If you are using the shotgun mic for game sound, is it possible to use some sort of other mic for play by play?
@corduroy736 ай бұрын
Thanks, glad that it has helped. I am now using the DJI mic 2 system. I don’t do play by play but this would be perfect for that. It comes with 2 wireless mics and a receiver. You mount the receiver on the Mevo, one mic on the fence and one on your shirt and you can do play by play from up to 30ft away. I am using the the 2 mic system to feed the Mevo and a DJI action 4 camera. The action camera has a cooling fan on hot days so I wanted to move the mics away from the fan.

Do you have any experience with go pro - is mevo way better? Just trying to get into this
@corduroy732 жыл бұрын
I have tested SidelineHD with a GoPro and iphone as well but have not streamed a game with them. All 3 devices worked for me so I can't say the Mevo is way better. However, Mevo is designed for streaming the GOPro is designed as an action cam. I also record our games with a GoPro at 4k 60fps so I can make a high quality video afterwards. The stream quality is limited to 720p no matter which device you use. If you use a Gopro I would recommend taking the battery out and connecting an external battery pack via USB C. The internal battery generates heat and you will need to change it over a 2 hr game which will interrupt the stream. Here are the sidelineHD GoPro instructions: help.sidelinehd.com/support/solutions/articles/69000340178-1st-time-streaming-from-gopro

when using your phone to steam does the pocket radar app have to be displaying on the screen to show pitch velo on Game changer?
@michaelhayden31602 жыл бұрын
Hello Matt. I have watched this a few times and have a few basic questions: 1) You are running Smart Coach Pocket Radar to your cellphone which you leave up and open. Are you running the MEVO camera through the same cellphone with one program running in the background or through a separate device (1 device for radar/ 1 device for MEVO)? I have a separate person scoring GameChanger via a separate phone. 2) are you using the MEVO single camera app or the multicam? I am under the impression that most people use multicam regardless of number of cameras. 3) Do you start MEVO with phone bluetooth and then switch to hotspot (connect via WiFi) or use your device controlling MEVO to connect to hotspot and keep device (portal) to MEVO as bluetooth?
@corduroy732 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, I have modified my setup and should make a new video. To answer your questions.. 1) back when I made this video I used an iPhone 12mini to run the Mevo and pocket radar apps. They both ran in the background, I just kept the pocket radar up so people could see the velo if they were standing behind the plate. The iPhone is also serving as 1 hotspot (att) that I bind with a T-Mobile mifi. I still use the iPhone for pocket radar and hotspot but I now use an iPad for Mevo and iScore. It’s connected to a Wi-Fi router. I like this bc I can be sitting far away from the camera and score and manage the Mevo app. 2) I’m using single camera Mevo app. I’ll switch to multi cam when Mevo adds pip and I buy a 2nd camera.

3) I connect the iPad and Mevo camera to the Wi-Fi coming from the router.

Tristan, all of the links for the components used in this video are in the more information section below the video. This video shows a Fenceclip mini, I have switched to a fenceclip heavy. my biggest issue I had with the GoPros were it would get over heated pretty fast and shut down. Then it was done for the day. My daighter plays softball so were were recording 90 minute games and typically 4/5 games a day. so how does this camera handle the heat?

I also stream with a gropro..I hook it up to a big external battery bank and remove the internal go pro battery and keep the battery door open to vent the heat. I also put a mask 😷 over the camera to block direct sunlight. I use the GoPro max but I'm looking at switching to the mevo.

I dont want to stream I just want to record and looking for what equipment would be good for that. Parent looking for memories and footage for a skills vid, not a coach. What do I need?
@corduroy732 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy. Before I started streaming, I recorded games on a GoPro. In fact I still do so that I have a higher quality backup from the stream. If you look at my videos that start with "condensed" in the title, those are shot with a GoPro 9 and/or GoPro 8. You do need a few things: 1) Start with a go pro 8 or 9. 2) Gopro's are susceptible to shutting down from heat so put the go pro in an aluminum case to dissipate heat. Ulanzi makes good cases. I use the G9-14 for my GoPro9. Do NOT use the GoPro media mod. 3) Take the battery out and power via an external battery. I use the mycharge adventure 10050 mahr. It has a carbineer to clip to the fence 4) Shade the gopro. Easiest way is to put a "trucker" hat over it. 5) Fence mount - I have tried so many fence mounts. I think the best one overall is the Lynkspyder which can work on both fence and mesh. Next would be the Fenceclip mini with a positioning arm (this is for wire fence only). 6) Video editing - if you are interested in sharing, you will probably want to trim to take out all the throw backs and time between innings. I can condense a 2hr game into about 30min. I use Adobe premier pro but if you want something free, Openshot is recommended. Good luck!

@corduroy732 жыл бұрын
No, it wouldn't work like this. I was just using this fence to mount the equipment for demonstration purposes. The pocket radar needs to be pretty much in line with the pitcher, no more than 7 feet off the ground and 12" away from other electronics.

I have not had to yet but the Lynkspyder mount can support net mounting provided that you plastidip the brackets. lynkspyder.com/blogs/support/setting-up-for-net-backstops They are also working on a new product that allows the mesh to set in rubber grommet so that mesh doesn't get in front of the camera. fb.watch/cAyhTjo8Wa/

Why couldn’t you use your cell phone to broadcast?
@corduroy732 жыл бұрын
Hi Shane, you absolutely can. With SidelineHD (or Gamechanger) you can use your cell, a go pro, or a Mevo. The advantages I see with a Mevo are: a) it's a device dedicated to streaming b) it encodes the video and streams, a cell phone would have to use another app to encode the video, c) ability to add external mic for better audio, d) ability to add multiple cameras in your stream, e) ability to edit video settings (exposure/white balance/saturation/etc), f) when streaming from a cell phone, a 2nd cell/tablet is needed for scoring.

Sorry, not tech savvy. Did I miss your hotspot device? Did you use your phone or a hotspot router? I have heard using your phones doesn’t work well.
@corduroy732 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, You can use your cell phone IF you disable the bandwidth restrictions most carriers implement. On ATT it's called stream saver which limits video bandwidth to 480p. Tmobile has something similar. In this video I am using a Tmobile 5G MIFI hotspot. This worked great in my area but will need to find which carrier is best for where you want to stream from. Today I am using a more complicated setup where I use both the MIFI and my ATT phone together. I bond both connections via a Raspberry Pi running Speedify. This gives me a more stable connection if I am at a park where the Tmobile coverage is bad.
