I think one of the problems is that unless you order from the website the products don't come with fresh seals therefore every time someone opens the bottles in store to check the scent air gets in and starts the expiration process before the products leaves the store.

I know this is over 2yrs old but I was looking online for a resolution or to find similar and glad I am not alone. I notice years ago that the body cream is the product that goes bad real quick and I am thinking it's because of the ingredients, also, any fragrance with "food" scent goes bad too, hardly happens with the mist or body cream unless its "food" scent.

The body creams really don’t last past a year. Whenever I buy them I put them right into my bathroom to use immediately, never save them aside. If I know I’m gonna end up hoarding I don’t with the regular lotions, they tend to last and stay fresh smelling for a few years

Anything that has vanilla oil in it, will change colors. The bath and body works have definitely switched up the formula with the body creams mine go bad within 6 months.

I’ve found it’s mainly the body creams and butters that go bad....they smell really musty to me! I haven’t had any problems with the lotions going bad. This was a great, informative video! 😊

Me neither, the lotions last for a few years but their body butter and/or cream go rancid within 1 year. Mine has a different consistency and smells plasticy

The creams go bad within a year. I don't buy them anymore after throwing out a whole bunch. The lotions last a long time so I stick with those now.

The timing of this video is, well, very timely for me. I've always just used lotions, but the past several SASs, I got some body cremes. Just this week, I started using one for the first time, summer marshmallow, and it was yellow & curdled, but smelled ok. I thought maybe it was supposed to be that way. After seeing your video, I checked my backstock and sure enough, seven of the ten I have were yellow & curddled and five smelled bad. Seems like they should have an expiration date on them, doesn't it? At any rate, as others have said, I'll just stick with the lotions going forward and maybe only pick up one or two body cremes at SAS & use them first.

I never understood why people back stocked up on this stuff. Everything has an expiration date on it. Especially if it’s a really good product and has no preservatives in it. If it was sour I would not be putting it on my body. That means it is spoiled. Throw it away. Next time only by about a three month stock.

I've heard that all the Body Creams do not have a preservation chemical in them, like the Body Lotions do, and that's why they go bad so quickly. Good Video!!

vanilla bean noel is the only scent that has gone bad for me so far. It smelled like sour vomit. I think it is their vanilla scents. I have heard of others complaining about vanilla scents.

ok this explains why most of their scents with creamy vanilla notes are weird or straight up not that at all..:/ when I bought strawberry poundcake cream "fresh" from the store it also was yellow and nasty like that, returned to the store the same day.

Yes!! I’ve been dealing with this. My VBNs went bad . Some of my creams look yellow like mustard . And my BELOVED Beach nights creams. Ughhhh seems like the ones with a vanilla note. Bc I have creams from 2015 that are still white. It’s weird it’s only some. I’ve exchanged some stuff . Definitely frustrated about it. The lotions stay. Creams have Shea butter which is prob also why they go bad.

I use to have a lot of lotions and creams but the color changed and so did the smell so I have stopped hoarding even though they have great deals with coupons during sas. I have also returned items I never used and get store credit even though I don’t get much credit.

The VBN body cream tub of cream was from 2017. Anyway. it is my understanding that when your body cream or lotion turn yellow and get chunky, it is bc the shea butter is separating from the product. Not sure how true, but heard it from a BBW employee!

I stay away from body creams if I do buy some I buy 2 and the travel size the body butters too they have a short shelf life. The body lotions lasts longer idk. Great video

I had the same experience, I stocked up on bodybutter and bodycream to give as gifts and also for myself. They went bad. I was so upset and decided to stay away from buying them. My bodybutter and cream did turn brown and I threw them away.

I never get more than a year of use out of any of the vanilla-based body creams or butters. Sometimes less. They will also start to turn yellow or brownish before the scent actually goes bad. I’ve heard it’s from the vanillin fragrance oil. It’s hard to not stock up when it’s $3 at SAS, but obviously it’s not a deal if you don’t even get to use it. I’ve learned the hard way too. They say to stick to the lotions because they last longer. Which is a shame because I prefer the thicker creams.

I had a Vanilla Bean Noel body cream go bad on me- my Marshmallow Magic turn but it still smelled good so I used it up recently. Majority of body creams with vanilla or marshmallow turn within a year or so- the Vanilla Bean Noel body butter was always that color because I have a mini one and it’s that dark color a long with my Salted Caramel Pumpkin body butter. This is why I buy the lotions now... Some of the body creams are now yellow in color so be careful when stocking up. Thank you for sharing ❤️❤️❤️

I took all my sour, nasty, creams back to bbw. I got a fraction of what I paid for them, however I was very greatful that I got that instead of nothing if I would have thrown them away.

I would definitely take all of those back to the store. I'm sure they know their product is bad because that's the first thing I would do. Take it back for whatever credit you can get out of it.

This is why I stopped stocking up on body care items; they go bad too fast and I'm not able to use them up. I've had better luck with the fragrance mists from way back--I have a Malibu Heat that I bought when it first dropped and it still smells amazing--but lotions, creams, and butters I only buy what I know I can realistically use up within six months to a year because after that, it's a crapshoot on them staying fresh.

I noticed something very similar. the shower gels smell good at first but after a few days smell bad. E.g. twinkling nights, pinkberry clouds. At the beach was largely coconutty with very little or no frangipani aroma. the coconut dominated its smell. Others like you're the one smell okay from far but either its a faint smell or I got covid when I got sick last year and my smell is weakened. also from close up 'you're the one' smells bad. noir smells like bug spray. they have these once in 2 month sales here in uae (al shaya) and I buy a lot but honestly I'm gonna have to find another good brand which will be very hard/impossible given where I'm stuck presently. they dont even take it back over here if u dont return it within two weeks and dont use it at all.

I bought 3 boardwalk marshmallow clouds last summer SAS 2019 and they’ve gone bad within a couple of months. I wanna return the unopened ones because I can’t use them. They’re all grey, mustardy color and very weird looking. I don’t wanna put it on my skin.

Did it happen with body mists too? I bougth a VS body mist in March and its smelling difrent wich is weird because its a 2018 summer collection and i have one from 2017 and one from 2014 Bath and body works collection that are still smelling good like when i bougth it

I have that one in the tub that looks like poo.. the original color is white. Mine is still white, but now I’m about to go threw my collection and start tossin some stuff! I’m glad I seen this before the sas. I’m staying away from the creams and butters

BBW says 2 years max is expiration. Most products are produced months before they even hit the shelves. VBN body cream 2017 VBN body butter 2017 VBN shimmer swirl 2015. A Latte Love 2017 Agave papays sunset 2016

All 5 of my body creams smell musty old. They don't smell sour, but overwhelmingly musty. I just noticed this. They are not vanilla scented. I'm trying to tell myself they don't smell that bad, but really, the smell gags me. All 5 are at least half full. What a waste of money. So disappointing.

@@mari_Jasso9690 You can really smell it when they go bad and the water separates from the solids. You can hear it when you shake it. If it's not chunky then it is fine. I just checked my new Pink Velvet body cream and it is slightly yellow, probably from the shea butter they use. Shea butter is yellow.

You don't have to throw the items out. The store will let you swap item for item. You can replace all the creams.
