My Batman Video Game Pitch

Before the release of #GothamKnights, I thought it might be fun to discuss how I would helm a AAA open world single player #Batman experience! Leave your own ideas in the comments below!

Really great ideas. I especially like the idea that as Bruce Wayne you could invest in the city and in return get some buffs or upgrades. Kind of like in AC2. And of course fully explorable Wayne Manor and Bat Cave.

I love the idea of a game with a fully customizable batsuit. Different gadgets, cowls and suit pieces that references all sorts of media (movies, comics, games, etc.) Another idea I have is an open world sandbox game in the vein of GTA or Saints Row where you play as a Gotham City thug doing jobs for various supervillains, eventually getting tired of just being a henchman and becoming a sort of vigilante figure. You’d be able to either be a crime fighter, supervillain, or a bit of both. Even recruiting a gang of goons if you pursue a more supervillain route. In addition to regular guns, melee weapons, and gadgets, you could get gadgets and weapons from iconic villains (the Freeze gun, Firefly’s jetpack & flamethrower, Joker’s boxing glove gun, a either decommissioned or imitation Batsuit, etc.) If you get a high enough wanted level (like 5 stars or so), Batman himself will hunt you down.

Arkham Underworld was mostly what you described, the only difference being you played as Villains from Batman Rouge’s gallery.

I really like your pitch a lot. To add a bit more, with the Bruce Wayne side of things, clues to a case which can only be obtained when player chooses the billionaire playboy persona, or clues which can only be found on the streets as Matches Malone, now that would be awesome, together with the whole day and night cycle would be great. Alternatively another concept that I'd like to see explored is completely flip it around and have something like the mobile game Arkham Underworld; have the player assume the role of a criminal rising up from the bottom to being the top of crime world and on his way to the top, the player takes over more territories in Gotham, defeat Supervillains and recruit them to his cause as part of his Family (and yes, he'll eventually need to fight Batman). Basically a AAA game which is like Mafia games, but has the world, environment & characters of Batman in Gotham - player as the Boss of a Crime Family with Supervillains under his Wing, going up against the police, Batman & the Batfamily. Something really different.

Really cool concept, but what I would add is a modified Red Dead Redemption 2 honor system, with batman's actions and choises affecting the story and batman's way of doing things, so like if batmab is high honor he will be caring towards people around him and his friends, with it being a harder playstyle but mors rewarding, if he as low honor tho he would be a more flashpoint style batman and would be more brutal in combat, making him stronger but not a hero, playstyle that would make batman a villain by the end of the game kinda like spiderman web of shadows

To add to your pitch i would like if the city of gotham has more verticality and layers, i would add an second layer of gotham under the high metropolitan area of gotham where as at the topside of Gotham is more city like with buildings and architecture akin to batman 1989 i would add an “old gotham” underneath that is basically the slums of Gotham so if there is an batmobile added in the game the would be reason to use it via old Gotham as you wouldnt be able to always just glide with there being less dynamic buildings. I would make Old Gotham look akin to Arkham city in aesthetic and kinda stay with me here the Killer Moth level in Lego Batman😅 mainly bc i feel that level hit the spot on how a populated slum of gotham would look kinda like how the slums looked in the Batman and Robin 1997 movie with neon and graffiti and even make it that the reason the slums use so much neon and has so much graffiti is because they provide light to the underground as they do have access to much sunlight

If it were up to me, I would just revive the Batman Beyond concept but with Terry McGinnis and have it in a seperate continuity from Arkham for creative freedom. The flying batmobile would be a dope traversal method that's distinct from what we've seen so far.

I think they could improve traversal by making the grappling hook kinda like Spidermans swing so there could be variety other than gliding. These were some good ideas though great video

Irongen we have the same idea!! We want the most ambitious Batman game a studio could possibly make, a true love letter to Batman fans. To add on to your list I’d want to customize my bat suit and vehicles. You can choose different types of cowls or helmets, Different belts and suit materials would be available to choose from too. As far as the vehicles you can choose your type of batmobile since most fans have their favorite style like heavily modified muscle car “The Batman” , full on tank like Arkham knight or something like from the animated series. There would be enough customization options to where almost no players batmobile should look exactly the same!

For me id make it a sequel to Knight and have Prometheus and Deacon Blackfire as the main villains. Blackfire would use this new Nightmare Batman as ammunition to finally fuel his cult and followers and "cleanse" gotham as they believe its actually a demon. This causes Prometheus to work with Blackfire to vow to slay this "demon" for them and become gothams new savior. Blackfire takes over gotham and any citizen who doesnt join him are imprisoned, while Prometheus takes control of the Gotham police, tricking them into thinking he's the new savior and turn the city against Nightmare Batman. This causes Bruce to come back as Batman and tone down his usage of the fear toxin, realizing his new myth has backfired and put everyone in danger. As a new mechanic, im replacing the FEAR mechanic with the new Nightmare mode. During predator sections, you can use Nightmare mode to temporarily become nightmare Batman. During this, you are invincible and can take down enemies even if they see you. The drawback is detective mode is turned off, your gadgets cant be used. When Nightmare mode runs out, you cant use it again for the remainder of the predator section. It automatically refills after the section is completed. Also, im keeping the batfamily out of this game as they parted ways. Instead, ill have Azrael as the secondary playable character. He'll have his own sub plot where hes taking down the order. Through this optional side content, you find out Blackfire used to be with the order but was excommunicated for his extreme beliefs, and Prometheus is actually a Knight for the Order and plans to slay batman AND blackfire and take over Gotham for the order, making this one whole big conspiracy, with the Order pulling all the strings

I would make a new batman game in the style of insomniac spider-man. I would even incorporate some elements from Batman Arkham Origins and plus add a morale system where your choices define you, similar to the Star Wars idea between light side and dark side moments, but in this scenario it would be considered heroic actions or brutal vigilante. As far as villians I would have it where the rogue galleries of batman are based of some of the storylines from the Animated Series or the comicbooks. For example poison ivy would have story elements from Batman the animated series Pretty Poison Eternal Youth and on the comic side it will be beware of poison ivy and hot house. And this will be a way to test your mental fortitude against her mind control pheromones, where she will try to seduce you into join her cause
