I appreciate how u said “for now I’ll leave the beat as it is and come back to it in a few months if I’m feeling it.” U helped take away some guilt from me when I don’t finish a beat. I now have a mental permission to pick up where I left of at anytime. Thank you.

All the time, I never once have finished a beat, too much pressure. I rather enjoy the loop for and hour then let it rest.

🔥 "Leave the beat as it is, come back to it in a couple of months..." Is the biggest gem in this vid next to your process. I do the very same thing. I've made hundreds of loops. If I want to put it in a project or work on it more later then I'll finish it. Thats 80-85% of my beats. I know I have difficulty staying in the moment so I dont force it. Just glad to know Im not the only one as mentioned in a earlier comment. Im not going to lie I'm very self-conscious about that, feeling that I should finish more beats than I do now. Guess now Im seeing that it isnt uncommon at all. Thank you. I love your vidz and how you teach. Straight to the point and easy to understand.🙏🏾

I'd say most of us work like that, is not uncommon at all. The only thing we need to focus on is getting back to them and finish them.

Another vibe…as usual. Since you’re talking process…about how long would you say it took you to find YOUR sound? Making beats is one thing, but it’s not easy to stand out. You have a an identifiable sound, particularly among a lot of the other creators on YT. It would be cool to hear you speak on finding your “voice”. Thanks for sharing 🫡🫡🫡

Two things. One, I would love to see a video on creating baselines! Its something that is so difficult for me but can make a beat so so good. @marlowdigs… mate do you do a tutorial on the filing side on the mpc.. I’m so computer phobic and just have 100s of programs rather than a dedicated sample pool.. I just seem to make lots of different tracks and that’s it…. I really want to see a simple vid that shows how to build a library of sounds and then how to access those samples to make multiple programs

Hi. As usual, a great beat from you. Everything seems so simple when you make beats. I have a technical question. When making a drum pattern (quantization disabled) you are not afraid of latency such as hihat, snare or kick drum won't land/register in this exact spot on the midi grid, what did you want? I'm asking because I see that you're using a blue cable, so you're probably using MPC 2 software, so there's definitely some latency, i.e. a delay between pressing the pad and the software registering it on the midi grid. Peace
@mpchead
@mpchead 13 күн бұрын
I have the cable connected to the laptop but in this case it was it standalone. Even if it was in controller mode, I always record quantized. I shift notes to get my swing.
