Your acoustic guitar production has got to be one of the best out there. Compliments every note you play! I would actually pay to watch you give a mixing/mastering lesson!

All 3 sound great and unique. The spruce top definitely has more pop in the highs. Lots of warmth with the cedars. For this piece, I liked the sound of the 10 yr old OM (cedar) best. Of your older song catalog, this is one of my favorites. Probably in the top 5. Great video!
@ASPEDBUSDRIVER1 Жыл бұрын
Is the cedar the one he uses in To Run in a Dream? The harmonics, it just has an airy piano tone. I imagine like a Lowden? And that low C note on the 6th string just buzzes. It just spoils my eardrums. I wonder if thats cedar with rosewood

This is the song that really got me into this style of music. Always has been my favorite. The new redwood sounds fantastic man. You can really tell that thing has some incredible dynamic range. Interesting choice with the 12 fret neck to the body, are we thinking about some more classically oriented pieces? I'm super interested to see where this guitar takes you.

I liked elements of them all but I’m still drawn to #3. Papa spruce top. It has the most dynamic sound from top to bottom. The others are stronger in the mid range... I’ve been watching you and covering some of your stuff for a while. You’re one of my hero’s man. Thank you for the inspiration you give me!

Oh yes! On your last video I was saying some kind of comparison/analysis video of your various guitars would be great and you actually already did it! WOOO! Thanks Antoine. I don't think I need to say that the playing was obviously brilliant, and you've had the best production/mastering for acoustic guitar for a long time now. As far as the three guitars go, I've always been a cedar fan in general, and Mario's cedars are fantastic and this video hasn't changed my mind on that; I think it's still my favorite overall purely because of that classic warm cedar timbre. That being said, I've always been impressed by the power/pop of the sprucetop since the "Mother" video a few years back (which I think was the grand debut of that guitar if I recall). I actually never knew that it was specifically a Euro Spruce. I've always been a bit critical of Euro Spruce, finding it to be a bit washed out when other luthiers have used it (almost like too much of the sound had been "phased out" in a recording). Luckily, Mario is not just "some other luthier"; he's done a great job with that sprucetop, it is by far the best sounding Euro Spruce I've ever heard. The only question I have left is how do you decide when to use which guitar? Do you just switch freely or do you have specific tunes/styles for each one?

Wonderful playing! Could you tell us guitar nerds a bit more about the specs of the guitars? I'd be especially interested in the SJ one. What kind of spruce for the top, what scale length and nut width and why you chose so? I'd appreciate it very much, merci beaucoup!

Hi Antoine! I guess you get that question quite a lot, but i was wondering if those pieces of cloth in your guitars headpiece have a specific purpose. I'm guessing it has something to do with avoiding additive vibrations of some sort. Yet, one of your guitars does not have one on it. Cheers, and keep up your great style of playing and inspiring with music.
@michaelrasbury Жыл бұрын
This sounds great! At the end of the video you say you are using a M/S setup but with BOTH mics set to figure 8. Are you still making an inverted copy of the side mic for a true M/S technique or are you simply hard panning the two figure 8 mics? If the latter is true, I would expect that pair to be at a 45 degree angle to the guitar but in the final screenshot of the mics the center pair clearly look like a 90 degree orientation. Can you clarify? I’m working with a great student guitarist and we are using your video as a model for recording techniques! Thanks!

Shouldn't have even bothered with the "new" guitars. Especially the red one! That one is horrible, sounded off key the whole time, terrible . All of your songs sound better on your original guitar. Will continue to listen to your songs, they are great. But will stop if you continue to use that red guitar. And the other one you used wasn't very good either. Keep playing with the original.
