Nice review. I myself came from a 2004 VFR 800 VTEC. Love this bike, but a tad heavy and slow. I was in doubt about the Fireblade, but decided not to go that route because of the riding position (too sporty). I ended up the a 2011 Tuono V4 APRC. Wow! What a machine. Exactly the bike I wanted. Still have the VFR. Because I have my doubts about reliability and excessive maintenance costs. What's your experience about this?

I've not had a single thing go wrong with mine other than a spark plug and a battery, it's been more reliable than some Japanese bikes I've owned, I'd still have my old VFR800FI as a stablemate to the Aprilia if I could, they're amazing bikes. 👌 My maintenance costs have been no different to other bikes as I do it myself

I put that on her 3 years ago! Love the sound, looks and value of it! Plus it still gets past the noise tests (just) on track days 👌

You'll have to move up to the 1100 tuono 😉

As much as its definitely a superior bike, I actually enjoy the raw brutality of the earlier model :) hence even after 3 years I have no plans whatsoever to change!

@@jwcarsandbikes3149 to be honest I still prefer the older models over the new.

I love both the old and new models for different reasons but I find the older one has a more mechanical and ferocious feel to it whereas on the newer one I felt a tad more isolated from the madness and it felt alot more reined in despite the extra power and torque, though it was definitely alot more comfortable, I'm debating getting the seat from 1100 for my 1000. I also love the brutality of old v twin Tuono 1000r , that rotax engine just made it mad and a constant giggle!
