Pro: Your fish will thank you for live plants!! My fish munch on them and you can get fabulous moss balls. They are also lush and beautiful and add such a natural feel to the tank. Con: They can get expensive! And need topping up as the fish feed on them. It might be an idea to grow your own plants in a separate tank and sell them back to the stores? ps. Had NO idea about glow fish. Love your channel!

You could try a trunk piece of driftwood in the middle (bogwood?). If you want to have tons of success with plants right away you have to switch put your substrate is most cases. You might just have enough fish poop in the gravel to feed plants, you might try root tabs. Not sure how in depth with plants you want to go. But you do have the eye for aquascaping regardless of using fake or live plants

Carson I think it’s time you graduate to live plants other than the water Hiaasen. You did an excellent job on the 55 gallon aquascape but imagine how good it would look with some live plants even if they are some of the easy to grow ones! (Anubis, Java fern, moss, etc)

Great video Carson, I'm definitely a live plant guy, but honestly it's up to u mate, aslong as u have a good plant substrate and some hardy plants, java fern, cryptocoryne, amazon swords and some echinodorus species and Anubias, and if you have gud lighting and some flourish Advance or excel and api co2 booster will help too, plus get some carpeting plants like microcranthum montecarlo and some dwarf hair grass, keep up the amazing work mate

Hey Carson if you can can you put all the links to all the things you have for your turtle I would appreciate it because I need to upgrade because my yellow belly turtle “mater” is getting bigger and need some recommendations on what to upgrade too. And how much did you feed Sheldon before he was gone
@onlywei4 жыл бұрын
Real plants! I keep anubias and java fern with my turtles and they do seem to grow faster than my painted turtle nips them. Super gluing the rhizome plants to driftwood and rocks is the way to go! P.S. I’ve found that even with the bacteria starter liquids, the tank does not become instantly cycled. I’ve had ammonia and nitrite spikes even weeks after I poured the bacteria into my tanks.
@FPVfainting4 жыл бұрын
I think you should start off it’s some easy to grow plants on one of your tank. Once you get use to having plants you can either propagate the plants you have to other tanks or get some more advanced plants. I had lots of issues learning to grow plants but finally am able to keep two different easy to grow plants.

Try Getting no soil plAnts . the soil can release harmful ammonia To the water over time. Look into cabomba aquarium plant they don’t need soil and easy to grow. Great video update , keep it up.
@brendanolauson74094 жыл бұрын
Just start with Java fern, Anubias, Java Moss, maybe a dwarf lily.... pretty easy, don’t need a ton of light, CO2, or a rigid fertilizing regime. Java moss is almost impossible to kill and it looks great... my personal favorite.
@gabriellondon58824 жыл бұрын
The PetCo that I go to actually takes better care of their fish than some fish stores. Last time I went there were only like 1 or 2 dead fish and it looked like they just recently died. Other than that all the fish looked healthy and even the feeder tanks looked better than most. I wish I could say the same about all PetCo sores though because the one closer to me has either dead or sick fish in almost all the tanks and at the Petsmart closest to me the fish are literally decaying and being eaten by the other fish. So what I’m trying to say here is not all PetCo and Petsmart are bad, it’s not the store chain. The care that the fish are receiving depends on how well the people are doing

real plants can be tricky but worth it, i would definitely try anubis, glue the roots around your rocks and wood and that stuff will just grow like crazy. also those tall fake plants are called anacharis (maybe spelled wrong) and that’s another awesome beginner plants basically indestructible and doesn’t have to be planted either. it grows its own roots through the water to the ground! also offers great hiding places. check them out! some simple water fertilizer and you’re good to go :)

Carson just start out with some anubias they are easy to keep you dont even have to use any fertilizers but they do like to be on wood or rock because they have a rizome where all the leaves come out of and if you burry it under gravel it would die same for java fern
@Lesliegee943 жыл бұрын
Looks great!!!!
@isidrogonzalez28124 жыл бұрын
Carson you can have plants with the cichlids just get anubias and java fern they are hard to rip apart just tie it to the wood or rock so they dont take it off of its place

hi carson! i don’t think you should transition all your plastic plants into real plants. you should get a new smaller tank, maybe a 30 gallon and try doing aquascaping, with white sand, driftwood and live plants surrounding the back, and choose the hardiest and starter live plants like a anubis’s! You’re improving every video carson!!

Hello. I like ur Videos very much but I just noticed ur uvb lamp on the turtle setup. The uvb lamp that u use doesn't produce any uvb actually... I can recommend arcadia 12% desert t5 tube with reflector. U can measure the output of uvb with a solarmeter 6.5 I just comment this cause u seem like a guy who actually cares for the health of his animals.
