This week I have a completed Sunshine Tee by Andrea Gaughan Knits, a nearly finished Blouse No. 1 by My Favourite Things Knitwear, and some crochet for a fun little dinosaur project I am excited to put together. Plus, I share about some of the best knitting finds that I recently picked up from Michael's craft store.

@@highfiberknits do you think the cotton merino is too thick for the summertime? I’m in California in the US and hoping I could make this and still get good wear from it! I’m loving how the Mole color looks on you. It’s such a beautiful smoky cool brown. I could see it looking good with so many things!!!

When you talked about the kfo cotton merino being your favourite summer yarn I thought: Emily! Get what you can of it! I fear they are discontinuing it. And then you said it yourself. I have 4 balls in stash that I'm not really sure what to do with. I would love to have a summery cardigan, but am not sure if I have enough and it is sold out everywhere... But maybe they'll bring it back in new colors. We'll see... Your tee is stunning by the way!

I love your Sunshine Tee. The shoulder placement looks right on. The shoulder seams on your Blouse look off. The seam on your left shoulder sits more forward than the seam on your right shoulder. Is that a fault of the design? Really enjoy your podcasts. So much useful information.

Not a fault of the design! It sit differently now that it’s blocked and both sleeves are fully complete!

for folded over edges i’ve seen people put in a lifeline on the row you plan to knit the edge down to, it helps to stay in the correct row!

I just finished tee no 1 and the advice in that pattern when folding down the hem is to insert a contrasting colour of yarn through the first round on the smaller needles, essentially a lifeline, so you can see that row when you sew it down later 😊

I made Plod the Triceratops for my sister last year, but I used scraps of worsted weight yarn so he turned out huge 😂 but he’s a cutie! Excited to see your finished version 😊 It’s a fun way to learn some fun new crochet techniques too!

The way your t-Shirt sits on you is actually the correct way of how the set-in sleeve should sit. Very hard to achieve, if you ask me. The majority of the patterns have it wrong. What you say you’d prefer is the fit of a men’s shirt, which sits lover on the shoulder.

You’re welcome! For a modern t-shirt we’re used to have a shoulder seam to be positioned where you prefer it. But for a sweater this is an excellent shoulder construction. I’ve learned that the majority of modern sweater patterns that claim that they have a set-in sleeve, actually have a shirt or t-shirt sleeve, which doesn’t look good on my broader shoulders. But if you look at the patterns from the 80-90s, their knitted garments have a true set-in sleeve.

Plod would look great made in Yarn Art Jeans. It is a cotton/acrylic blend. It holds up well and crochets beautifully. Good stitch definition.

KFO has been looking for a different supplier, because there where issues or something with their old one for the cotton/merino. At least thats what my local yarn store told me. It's been a problem since last late summer. Not sure if they found a new supplier yet though

Thanks for the info on the sunshine tee. I just purchased the pattern and I'm choosing me yarn. I have broad shoulders and was wondering about modifications for the set in sleeve so I'm glad you mentioned your experience with where the set in sleeve sits on your shoulder. Do you have any recommendations for how to correct that for broader shoulders?

That’s a good question! I’d say perhaps size up for the first steps and do less stitches increased and cast on at the underarms
