My Best Potting Soil Mix for Lavender

If you grow lavender in pots you should know what type of mix to use.
Potted lavender has different needs from the one grown in the soil. In the pot it needs good drainage but in the same time aeration and compost for nutrition!

The best thing to do for your lavender drainage is to have a good drainage mix but in the same time, lift the pot from the ground and put under it something that will make the water go out of the pot and in the summer don`t let the plant all day in the sun!

how often do you bring your date plant to sun? have your date plant bear fruit? what climate you have? can date plant bear fruit in tropical humid weather?

So, i live in Romania zone 6B. In the winter i bring them inside, and in the spring i take them out and they have alot of sun.....but, i see that they need time to deal with the direct sun light so they have some burn on the leaves. This year i will change the soil inside, i will make a video and post it on the English channel "The Lavender Farmer"! They will never bear fruit in my climate. Tropical humid....i dont really know because they need dry weather....i guess! But if you have it in pots definitely not going to have fruits!

Hello, thank you very much! The mix of the soil is the same! If you have a perennial plant just put more compost, but if you have an annual plant, less compost and add a little bit of slow release fertilizer!

@@mariagordon3828 i use this mix for everything that i plant, you can't go wrong with this, peat is retaining water, perlite is draining the excess and the compost is feeding the plant! 😊

So sterilizing the mix is by pouring boiling water on it? Will this really work? How about using apple cider vinegar added to water? It is a natural insecticide.

It worked for me! In my beginning gardening days actually i boiled the compost kinda 10 minutes, just to be shure! 😂 I never tried apple cider vinegar, but I know that it has a low PH, i think it wouldn't do good for the plants that prefer a high PH, be careful! 😊
