First of all, kudos for actually using Dutch people in this. It's refreshing to hear Anne's words known from the diary being spoken in her actual language (YES I KNOW SHE WAS BORN IN GERMANY. They actually recorded the beginning in Anne Frank’s family home on the Merwedeplein that has been restored back to the style when she lived there. I have visited there twice, recognized it immediately. ❤️

Tout à fait d’accord avec vous, moi je me base uniquement sur son journal et rien d’autre. Pourquoi raconter son histoire en mettant en scène une jeune fille jouant le rôle d’Anne surtout après l’arrestation alors que celle-ci n’a jamais rien écrit sur ce qu’il s’est passé car son journal était resté dans l’annexe. J’invite les personnes à consulter le témoignage de monsieur Franck en 1970 car étant le seul survivant de ce drame, lui seul pouvait savoir le déroulement de l’histoire et leur ressenti!!!!!

Our scenario now TOTALLY makes me empathise for these people right here. Just imagine! If being on a month’s lockdown for our own good seems difficult, imagine the fate of these people, living an entire life in secret! We are lucky, our lockdown is short. But we still go through anxiety. I can’t help but empathise the people who went hiding during WWII for years together (for absolutely no fault of theirs...) They could have just burned to the fresh air outside later on, had they come out and lived longer. No wonder Anne’s father died of lung cancer. RIP, poor souls... I visited the Anne Frank house last Sept (2019) it was there that I learnt that the short film of Anne leaning out of the window was in fact filmed from a different address, their flat in Merwedeplein. The house where they hid, was in fact her father's place of work. At the beginning of this clip it looks like this was actually filmed at Merwedeplein, as it has been bought and returned to its original decor. This video diary is a great idea and a brilliant way to re-tell Anne's story, it's more relevant for the younger generation of today and really hits home, the horror and the reality of their situation. With today's current crisis, I think we can all have some sort of understanding of isolation, these people lived it for two years, sadly, the rest we know.

The story of Anne Frank is touching and upsetting at the same time. It was exciting to follow the journey of Anne, her family, and friends. I honestly hoped that at least Anne would survive the Holocaust to write more. Her dream of being a writer is fulfilled and she will always be remembered. I especially liked parts like the Hanukkah Celebration and Anne's arguments with the adults. They were powerful and meaningful. Anne matured, and we can see that as time passes. She grows up. The offsetting experience makes her a stronger person. I was shocked that Mr. Frank was the only survivor of all the eight people. I think Miep and Mr. Kraler were amazing. Without them, we wouldn't even have Anne's diary because she wouldn't be able to write from a hiding place. Thank you Anne for sharing your words with the world.

Thank you for this "animated" memory... It is still too painful to watch videos concerning WW II. My heart still hurts (hurts so-so much) for the Jewish and Slavic people during WW 2. It is unbelievable what the gestapo did with people. Thousands of villages in Belarus were destroyed with their inhabitants. The fascists just forced people to come into one house, then they locked it, and burnt the house with the people inside. Just read, for example, the history of Khatyn massacre... It is so horrible, so horrible... It is worse than the worst nightmare. My heart will never stop aching. May all the victims of WW 2 rest in peace...

I've read The diary of a Young girl by Anne Frank countless times and everytime I read that it breaks my heart and wet my eyes to think of that poor girl who suffered all the miseries but never complained and always remained optimistic trust me on this I'm very much connected to Anne on emotional grounds. I wish there was something any of ous could have possibly done to put an end to your everlasting suffering. I've always loved you and you've taught me so much that I'll forever be grateful to you. Love you Anne Frank ♥️

The cat in the hiding place is the cat of Peter van Pels: Mouschi. After the arrest Miep Gies took care of him. Anne had to leave her cat Moortje behind when they went into hiding and yes, the neighbors took care of Moortje. Unfortunately Moortje got sick and had to be put down.
