Wow, I do like the new covers on your Beolab 50s, very nice! Love the Beolab 28, I'm very jealous! Sad to see the Beosound 9000 go, I could have made you a cable to play it into the Harmony TV? ;-) Great video, look forward to seeing more of your new setup!
@Mikipedia3 жыл бұрын
I know you could, but it would have been super long as in 15 meters plus... Also once it's all done you'll see why the 9000 unfortunately had to go. I'll get another one once I live way larger and I can get the missus to not see so much B&O everywhere lol. I'll make some more videos once I progress some more into this transformation of my living room :D

Could you kindly explain the difference between the 28s and the 50s. Is it worth buying the 50s over the 28s? Many thanks!

I'll make a video on them as soon as I have some time.

@@Mikipedia Do you have any idea when you might do that video on the difference between Beolab 50 and Beolab 28? And if that is taking a long time to produce, would you mind just highlighting here in text some of those differences and whether you think it’s worth spending extra money on the 50? Thanks a lot!

I just recently acquired the 50’s as a replacement for the 5’s, but I have a problem with resonating front covers e.g. when I play Way down deep from Jennifer Warnes. Do you know this problem? Very strange.
@Mikipedia4 ай бұрын
I do not, are they new? The only two things I could think of are either the cover isn't on correctly. Or that the front covers have come off and on so often that the rubber sort of holes have been made loose. Those are replaceable btw, your dealer can order them. What actually vibrates and at which volume? Does it go away if you put your hand on it?
@Alfcontrol4 ай бұрын
@@Mikipedia they are from 2022, covers placed correctly and tight . Well, my dealer knows the problem, so curious with witch solution he will come.
@Alfcontrol4 ай бұрын
@@Mikipedia it’s actually the cover at the bottom that starts to vibrate (only at a high volume level) and make this annoying rattling noise. Putting my hand on it reduces the rattle. As said before, the bas driver produces so much airflow, more than the cover can handle. But one the other hand, if I am the only person with this issue, than there must be something wrong.
@Mikipedia4 ай бұрын
@@Alfcontrol I don't know if you're the only one, maybe the fabric isn't as tight as it should be any more? See if your dealers cover does the same? if not, just swap them over!

@@Mikipedia They are great, but rather (very) expensive I found out. Skiniplay is not my cup of tea, I think. Another question if i may: considering swapping my Beolab 3's for 18's as rear speakers. Do you think that would be a considerable improvement?
@Mikipedia4 ай бұрын
@@Alfcontrol not to be pedantic but a lot will depend on what you consider ''considerable''. I would say yes, they are a more powerful and improved everywhere compared to beolab 3's. not to mention much better looking imho.

What a setup you have! I'm considering the Beolab 50 to pair with my Beosound Theatre 77. But I am curious if i am overkilling it as Beolab 28 is half the price. I have tried both in the dealership. Beolab 28 was great with maybe a little too leaned towards the bass than traditional B&O's that I'm used to. When I heard the 50, the difference was immediately felt through its clearer soundstage, better balance, and more natural sounding experience. But I'm still not sure if I should get the 50 as 28 was quite great as well. My listening would be 50/50 between music and movie. I'm also kind of concerned that it's been about 7 years since the 50 came out and it would be replaced in 3-4 years whereas the 28 is relatively new. I would like to own this system that im buying now far into the future. What would you recommend between the two?
@Mikipedia8 ай бұрын
the 28's are not on par with 50's, the age of 50's is fairly meaningless as they will kick some serious butt lol. If you can swing it you'll not regret it ever, but it's not like 28's are bad in any way. 50's are just a different league. The 50's are smart enough to be dumb enough to work with everything and not be unusable in 20-30 years. I don't know how the 28's will age yet.
@AlpineBoysClub8 ай бұрын
@@Mikipedia Thank you for the response. I have ordered the 50's and waiting for them to set up in my living room tomorrow. I do agree that it will only get better with long term ownership and will remain as one of the key pieces of my lifestyle purchases. Can't wait to listen to songs that I've heard many times and be pleasantly surprised at how much I have been missing in terms of originality of sound :)

That is a busy room :) What speaker roles do you have? BL50 R/L front obviously. BL18 Surround R/L? BL28 R/L rear? What about the BL17? What speakers do play when you really want to listen to music? BL50s I guess?
@Mikipedia3 жыл бұрын
lol I did say I was doing more than just speakers and having people over leaves stuff everywhere :p The 28's are in rear L/R, the 18's are in surround L/R and the 17's are in height surround L/R. For passive listening I used the 28's the last week or so, for active listening I made a special sauce setup with the 50's and 17's ;)

Congrats Miki on your new 28s! Quick question, the white sofa backing the tv, is that for when you loose the bet against the Mrs on what to watch on the harmony? Also, if I had as many speakers as you have in your set up, I will touch to join them all and raise the volume to 75% at midnight, light a cigar and wait for the neighbours and the police in my boxers 😂
