Baby girl. You’re talented and hard working. Don’t have imposter syndrome because others cannot afford your art. They just want something beautiful for cheap. They don’t deserve it. ❤

You are NOT ranting. You’re explaining what is really important. Maybe you should have a nice sign made very nicely worded about how EVERY SINGLE gem is placed by hand and saying about how long it takes to make them. Ignore the cheapskate complainers. If they have a problem they can try to do it themselves. I had NOOOO idea you did those by hand! It’s absolutely worth plenty for anyone thinking of purchasing them. As a fine artist myself too as well as a handmade business overall, I hear comments all the time. I’ve even had a couple people on FB call a couple pieces of my artwork trash, which were portraits, and tell me they are not worth anything and yes it hurt but I had to make myself ignore them. Some are jealous and some are unappreciative of your hard work and creativity and the RIGHT ones God will bring to you. ❤ I face that syndrome ALLLLLL the time. It’s hard not to. But you are unique and make beautiful things.

Thank you so much for this! It is so hard sometimes to put yourself out there like that and then to hear comments that are negative for any reason is difficult but like you said we just have to ignore them and keep going. I am so sorry you had that experience with some people on FB. There is worth and value behind what we do and the right people will find us and will find our products. Also, yes lol each rhinestone is put on by hand one by one. lol

Just found your channel. I work with seed beads- mainly 11/0 (approx 1mm beads) - that I hand sew together into jewelry. Everything I make takes hours and occasionally I get the same scenarios as you. However, as your mom said- those higher priced items just become the "show pieces"- the items that draw them in to your booth: ). I've started upping the price every time I sell a show piece, just so I don't have to make it again as soon..haha! Anyways- your bling cups are gorgeous and I appreciate the time you put into them!- From one crafter to another

I love the work that is done with seed beads! I think it is so beautiful! Going into Sunday and taking that approach to the bling cups as more of a "show piece" definitely helped ease my imposter syndrome a bit. Thank you so much! 😊

Maybe you should put an explanation of how the cups are made. Understanding the process explains everything. I make charcuterie trays. From standing tree on my land to your table. People pay more for them

This is definitely something I have been thinking about doing. I just haven't figured out a good way to do it yet. I usually just tell people when they ask but I think having some kind of sign or something may be good to add too! 😊

Is there a way to just lay the jewels down with a stripe? That way production cost can be lowered?
@TheHandmadeMom Жыл бұрын
As far as I know there is not a method to do that for these cups. 😢 If I can figure out a way to lower production cost I will definitely be sure to share that on my channel. 🤞🏽

Hi, I am enjoying your videos. I had a suggestion about your bling cups. You could sell them at regular price on your online store ( or wherever you sell them) but at conventions or markets, ou could so a sale. So this way you can bring in the crowd where your market is, and maybe get more sales because the price is cheaper but you also get your regular prices from online. I hope this helps because I do know how much it hurts when people complain about the prices when you know it's worth the price you are selling them. Good luck and keep up the great videos

Thank you! I really like this idea! I know many vendors sometimes will have market only deals and this could be one of them. 😊
@AnointedGarden Жыл бұрын
Congrats on the sells!!! I the wisdom that your mom gave you. That was a good way to look at it. It’s the holidays and people love deals. Depending on the price of your other items. You could do buy a bling cup and get a different item free or 1/2 off. That way you don’t sell yourself short on your cups. 💜
@TheHandmadeMom Жыл бұрын
Sometimes it’s all about perspective.❤️ I love that idea! I might have to brain storm what I could offer in a deal like that. Thank you! 😊

4:09 Unfortunately people don't care how much work the bling cups take. If they don't buy you're wasting your time. Maybe try to do one or two lines of bling and lower the price. You need to remember the goal is to sell. i wish you would have told us what you were charging for the bling cups.

There is a very specific audience that these bling tumblers are for and that is okay. Definitely finding a happy medium with the bling and the pricing that works for a wider audience is possible it is just taking some time for me to figure out but that is part of the small business game sometimes. I have a few ideas that I am excited to try out in 2024 to see how they perform! 😊

Thank you! ❤️ It is very real and it can hit any different times. It’s totally normal and okay to feel it’s about how we handle those feelings and what we do with/about it. I believe in you for starting a booth! Jump in and start with the expectations of learning and growing. Especially in the beginning there is so much to learn about and tweak and change that going in with that mindset helps us improve. 😊 Let me know when you do your first market! I missed if you said how much the cups are so looked on your website and I'm sorry but WOW you definitely need to do something to make them a lot cheaper or stop making them. I am in the UK and having been doing various fairs for years with textile crafts, I have never seen a cup at over £100. Maybe if you enjoy making them and want to keep making them then you should focus on those higher end products and be very selective on where and how you sell them. I'm sure that there must be some high end boutiques that you may be able to sell them in completely separately from your other items?....Personally, I love all of your items but don't think that they sit well with the scrucnchies and other more affordable items. I love the leopard one that you showed, could you not make a cheaper alternative with vinyl/sublimation and highlight areas with the bling? Have a collection of different ones like this but then have a couple of full blinged cups on display that are only available as made to order, you could offer a little discount or free postage if ordered on the day?
@TheHandmadeMom Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your insight! I do understand the price of these is a high one and getting to that price was not taken lightly for sure. I do really enjoy making them and we have definitely thinking of other ways that we can either reduce the cost or provide other options of bling that is in a more affordable range. I have some ideas that I am wanting to try in the new year and one is having different options of bling available similar to what you mentioned. I love your idea of just adding bling on parts of a design as accents! That is great to still have the bling but at a reduced cost. As I try these things in 2024 I will keep everyone updated in my videos. 😊

What was the vendor fee? Did you have to put away all your stuff or did you leave it
@TheHandmadeMom11 ай бұрын
The vendor fee for this market was $475 for a 10x10 corner booth at a 2 day event. Once I set my booth up on Friday I didn't have to take my products down until we were packing up Sunday. I did take down my bling tumblers each day but otherwise I left everything else out for the weekend. 😊

You should never have to explain why your prices are what they are. I as an artist who goes to sell at events, I also always feel like my products are too high but in reality, I was giving my art away for years. My 8x10 paintings started off at $10 and then went up to $15 and then $20 and then back down all the way to $8. It doesn't make sense that 10 years ago they cost $10 and now I was selling them for $8 each. Prices should go up as cost of supplies go up. So now I started to price my art closer to what it is truly worth. I recently went to an event and tried out my new prices and I was surprised that no one said that it was too expensive instead they knew it was a steal and quickly got the pieces they wanted and paid. Never let people make you feel like you are overcharging especially when you put so much thought into pricing your items and you put in the supplies and time into that price.
@TheHandmadeMom Жыл бұрын
Thank you for this! I feel like for many small business pricing is always a difficult part. I too have fluctuated my prices on a variety of my products trying to find my "sweet spot" and when I find it on a certain item I don't really change it much from there. But some items like my bling cups are a bit harder to find especially because there is so much time, energy, supplies, etc that go into each one. Also, right now people are very particular on how they spend their money because things are so expensive all around that it is totally understandable. We just have to remember that there is a right customer for us and our products and we just have to keep on trying to find them. I am so glad that your new pricing was a hit and people were getting your items! I am wishing you all the best of luck!

I had a conversation with my husband about prices because I did the math and I have to charge a bit much but I have to think about myself and making profit and God let me know my worth.. my husband said it dosnt matter if they really want it they will save up for it they will get it and I needed that so now I know that it's ok who ever wants it they will get it and I understand that if they don't have it because it's a want and we have to think about those purchases and im alil more relaxed about that going in to selling im at peace about it. God already let me know not everyone is going to like what I'm selling but it's ok so the pressure is off of me I just have to do me and what I can do because I have to make a profit not to lose... we all want the products that will fly off the shelves but sometimes it's just being you... keep posting on tic tok and selling on line promote promote.. they are beautiful just have fun

@TheHandmadeMom i had a revelation of if im going to make things cheap just to fly of the shelves then i would tire myself out and take a loss on my worth. You don’t have to explain. Believe in your worth and price accordingly. If someone feels the need to comment rudely, just tell them, I see these cups are not in your price range but I do offer maybe more affordable cups for you in this area!!

I think so many people sell stuff similar and so one its oversaturated but no. 2 people are cost conscience. I would say drop the bling cups if it is such a time consuming item and pricing is keeping people from buying I would concentrate on the big sellers instead.

I would like to give a different perspective. I know you know the value and how you value your time but most people in general don't. Sometimes certain things are not good to sell at markets or realize you will only sell 1 or 2 at the most. I know a very successful vendor and she has cut out items that take a lot of work and time because she kept hearing that same thing. She filled her booth with more items that do sell consistently. It's called doubling down on what works and sells. I know this personally. I sell Mosaics and most people don't like paying $75 or &125 at craft shows. Hand cutting glass takes time but the cost was too much at these places. Craft fair customers in general like smaller amounts $30 ish and under. My mosaics sell much better online and I added resin items I made and was finally making good sales at markets and vendor events. Don't stop what you love making just shift your expectations. Good luck and they are very pretty though.
@TheHandmadeMom Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this perspective! I totally agree. It is a large price tag that (at most shows) I don't expect to sell any really and if I do I am so excited and grateful. I think where a big part of my feelings this time around (specifically with this show) was I did come in with the expectation of selling them because of last years performance of these cups at the same market. Going in with this mindset was not the way I should have approached it. Maybe using them as more of an eye catcher and as something that draws people in would have been better. I am definitely planning on making changes and adjustments to my products in 2024 to try and find the right items at the right price point for the markets that I am going to attend. I have not really tried selling them online through my website until recently and I agree with you that online could be a better place to sell them similarly to your mosaics. Thank you again for your take on the topic. 😊
@joannementor5943 Жыл бұрын
You can only mark money if the people want to pay for the cup . Why invest in something that will not sell it is not rocket science you have to not make it about you so much
