Hailey, what I do with big books. Just read a chapter or 2 everyday. While reading your other book or books. It will take longer to read the large book but it will get there. I usually focus on the bigger book before bed. Always worked for me.

My family has roughly 8,000 books (most of which are my dad's collected over 50 years). I decided when I was a teen that I didn't want to spend money on books I wasn't sure I would like and could get from a free source (library or ebook). Because of that my personal collection is between 150 and 200 but I still go through once or twice a year and usually get rid of a couple (or return them to the proper room of the house). Personally I believe that if I enjoyed some of the books in a series but not all I can get rid of the ones I done like unless vital to the storyline. For example I choose to believe Divergent is a standalone book and I wouldn't keep the others, or Enchanted Forest Chronicles I just bought but didn't bother getting the 4th since it was a disappointment and the others can be enjoyed without it. But I have a series (can't remember which one) that one of the middle books just wasn't as good but is vital to the rest of the story. I have a number of books that I am keeping for when I have kids and those might end up living at my parents' for a while after I move out depending on where I live lol. Sometimes I wish I could have hard copies of every book and series I enjoyed but then I remind myself I have a digital copy and I didn't love the book enough for it to have space in my room.

I'm not a fan of huge books too currently. I have an old fantasy series which are big books but I'm keeping them because it was my favourite series. I don't think I'll ever read a large book in the Fantasy genre again. I'm a huge Stephen King fan. I'm keeping IT but I've unhauled all my other books of him that are over 500 pages. I just don't have the time to read large books lol

I needed to put my books in storage for 7 month and wanted to minimize the amount beforehand. I went through all of them and got rid of maybe a hundred. Then I went through all of them again and a third time as well and with each time I got harsher. In the end I unhauled over 300 books. I did the same once before when I moved out of my parents house. That time I unhauled over 700 XD So my tipp for everyone trying to minimze is: go through all of them multiple times. It really helped me to only keep the ones I really wanted to.

@@TickingClocks yes but if you can't separate the art from the artist I also expect you to do the same with other things and advancements that stem from horrible circumstances that causes people to profit from otherwise you're a hypocrite. If you can't separate the art from the artist you're literally on the same coin as people who go author x wrote the villain to have horrible views it shows the author actually believes these things based solely on the villain, along with similar things as let's not forget the book that got pushed back, pulled off shelves, and caused death threats to said author because the Asian author was writing about slavery in China in a fictional world because they felt the author was racist and erasing oppressed voices for talking about an on going issue of a very oppressed group.
@TickingClocks3 жыл бұрын
@@ayajade6683 I get that happens on a larger scale but on an individual level if someone doesn't want to read or support an author anymore for any reason it's their right to do so and nothing more should be read into it. Can't force someone to read a book or like an author. Some of the controversies are silly but can be avoided if the authors just stay off twitter because the types of examples you mentioned only happens on social media.
