I'm glad you made it a point to show the process and poor result of the chain breaking part. Honestly, I agree most riders don't need a bunch of tools at home, but I think most should have a decent multitool to take on rides. And most multitools come with a chain break.

I always think expensive reliable tools are great for bike shops like park tool ones but if you are only doing these jobs a couple times then a Chinese aliexpress tool will do the job 99 percent as well. You also can get some tools from home depot to do a lot of these jobs as well. Like the bearing press can be made cheaply as well.

When it come to tools they matter but they matter for how much you use them. For someone to build one new bike it should be fine. When I rebuilt my bike that I got. I had to buy a cheap cassette and crank puller mainly because of the age. I think I spend about $40cad for the tools to do it myself. The one thing I would tell people to invest in tools are Allen keys.

Honestly, the cranks are just cranks. I don't notice any performance upgrade other than weight. The idea is that they're a long term investment that will move from bike to bike. As for the brakes, they are very good. Very light touch. Almost to powerful.. i often grabbed too much brake in my first weeks/months of using them.

I've actually got the most basic tools ever, tho things for headset, cranks etc there can be picked up for like £7 off ebay so makes sense, i will always make sure the trusty mallet is within reach tho 💪 some tools are so stupidly over priced and if you actually think about it there's always a clever work around, like using the stem to fit a star nut, can save yourself hundreds so can grab that new expensive helmet, makes sense to me 👌

this is unwatchable xD btw a lot of these tools are available at much cheaper prices. U mostly showed expensive tools for repeated use by professionals, like bike shop mechanics. However, there are cheaper alternatives, like a simple headset press for around 30€ (by Acros), or a generic aluminium pipe cutter from the hardware store for around 15€. Unior offers a lot of specialized bike tools at somewhat cheap prices, at least in Europe.

Most people buy cheap toolkits first then upgrade one by one. The cheap tools don't perform well when doing jobs they're not specifically designed for. It was entertaining anyway.
